Although it’s geared for NASCAR fans, this title is in fact a decent racing game on its own. Featuring 37 NASCAR drivers and 17 licensed tracks, as well as “live” commentary by auto-racing announcers Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons, there’s plenty of EA Sports’ trademark authenticity. The cars are literally electronic replicas of the cars driven during the 1998 NASCAR season, rendered right down to the last decal.
Although they take a small getting used to, the controls are solid, and the “wheel-to-wheel” racing experience is certainly enhanced by a rumble pack. While it’s a bring shame on that NASCAR 99’s graphics are a bit flat, the brilliant crash and hurt effects easily make up for this. Smashing up opponents has never been so much fun in a “honest” racing game.
While hard-core racing gamers will be disappointed in the limited number of car modifications that can be made, the game’s “NASCAR Options” can be changed to make things more real or less real. Not so accommodating to non-NASCAR fans is the selection of tracks, which, for the most part, are oval-shaped. Which means a heck of a lot of left turns. –Joe Hon

This game is just like all the other car racing sports meeting. If you’re going to get a racing game get Mario Kart 64. Bottom Line: This game is just plain dull.

If your a nascar fan you’ll probley get a kick out of driving your fav drivers race car.Its got pretty excellent tracks and cars so i gave it 5 stars PS i’m 13 not 12

if you are looking for a realistic racing game then you have found it. I have never seen a racing game on 64 as excellent as this one and the prise on amazon can’t be beat.

Nascar 99 is a cool game, but I wish it was more like NASCAR. The driving part is like NASCAR but the wrecks aren’t is cool as real NASCAR’s. The cautions on the game start before going all the way around to the start/end line. Earlier today I played this game(hurt was on), there was a caution(the game control’s the player during caution), and Jeff Burton was running back and forth in to the wall, the game controled me right into Burton. The next thing I knew I was OUT. Besides that the game is awesome!
