If you want to play online- you need a cable modem or dsl conection. Also-for someone who never experienced Mortal Kombat in video parlors and arcades in the 90s- buy this game and experience Mortal Kombat. If your like me and have a girlfriend and a car- someone who did MK during the 90s- this game is not anything more than a rental. I spent 50 hard earned dollars for the last game and it was terrible only 9 charactors.
Find something else to do for 50 bucks like gassing up your car for 5 weeks.

WELL, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH ANOTHER CLASSIC FIGHTING GAME OF MORTAL OMBAT IS COMING OUR WAY. I CANT SAY I AM NOT DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CAST OF THIS GAME… IN OTHER WORDS… THE CHARACTERS KINDA SUCK. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO ALL THE CLASSIC MK CHARACTERS? SURE THE ADS WILL TRY AND TELL YOU THAT THE CLASSICS ARE BACK, BUT ALL THEY REALLY SAY IS BARAKA… OOOOOOOOH, BARAKA HOLY CRAP HES A FREAKING CLASSIC! WHOOPIE… ONE CLASSIC CHARACTER. IM DISAPPOINTED WITH IT. ANOTHER THING. WHO REMEMBERS THE 2D MK GAMES? I DO. THEY ROCKED HARD. MK DARK ALLIANCE SUCK REALLY BAD. IT JUST SUCKED. OTHER THAN ALL THAT… THE GAME SHOULD BE GREAT WITH THE KONQUEST MODE, PUZZLE FIGHT, AND CHESS KOMBAT (FOR ALL YOU LITTLE NERDS OUT THERE). IM JUST GONNA RENT IT. IF I FIND IT APPEALING. I MIGHT JUST BUY IT…

OK, let’s get reall here. At E3, this game rocked, no doubt. But upon closer inspection, you’ll find that the character roster completely sucks. I mean, where are the traditional and best MK fighters, including, but not limited to, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Liu Kang (ok, maybe not him, but still), and Kung Lao? Instead, all of the common faces are gone except the overly hyped “ninjas” (ninjas don’t wear bright colors, ok?) Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Even Reptile’s gone! Nightwolf, Sindel, Kabal, Ermac, and Mileena aren’t really names that come to mind when playing MK, unless you are a die-hard fan who also owns and wears vintage MK underwear and has an autograph of that stunt double who played Scorpion hanging on your wall. If you are a fan of the series, you likely will be upset by the inclusion of the rejects that nearly ruined the series in MK3. (They were ill thought-out and completely uninspired.) But, if you are a casual player, then by all means delight in, as it is a excellent game. But for fans who played the game since the beginning, unless you’re a complete MK fanatic, this roster will not cut it. They should’ve named the game MK: Reject’s Revenge. That would’ve been much more appropriate. This game deserves a splendid score with the inclusion of MK Chess, Konquest Adventure, and Puzzle Kombat, which are splendid minigames which could honestly stand alone. But it deserves the low score because of the roster. Again, avoid it unless you are new to the series, or worship it.

I am not saying that this game will be excellent nor terrible necesarily, I have made this review to express my opinion and viewpoint on what I have grown to know, injoy, and know Mortal Kombat to be owing to my own memories and experiences. I’ll start my review by asking you the reader to question yourself if you remeber playing mortal kombat back in the days that it was knew. Wernt the graphices and gamplay brilliant for the time, but most of all remember that symplistic 2D gameplay that was found in all fighting at the time. Wasnt it fun, wasnt it fascinating seeing all of the characters emotions and moves in exellent detail and viewing them in all there artistic detail. Also dont you rememeber seeing all of there original and classic outfits. And dont forget the comboes that featured a new level of gamplay with there furry and unrealistic alacrity and powere.
NOW lets go back to the modern age of gameing, arnt you thinking oh its so splendid that they are releasing a new mortal kombat game, Oh the new outfits are so cool the new characters are so cool the new gamplay is so cool, BUT stop, now if not anything is the same as it used to be exepnt maybe a few of the same moves and a few of the same character is it truely the same game is it really the same axpereince but just a modification.THE ANSWERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOT this is NOT the same game it is a cold shell of a game taking on the form of an ancient classic that WILL NEVER AND CAN NEVER reach the level of memmorable brilliance. BUT then again thats just my opinion, if you liked deadly alliance I hope you do have fun with this game.
