Product Description
Ultimate Performance Component Video/Digital Audio Hookup of PS2 to TV or AV Receiver with Component Video/Fiber Optic Inputs Monster Game Kit Delivers Realistic 3D Game Graphics and DVD Picture If your TV features component video, S-video, and composite video connections, the performance choice is a no-brainer: component video. Component video transmits the picture from your PS2 to your TV in its purest form owing to three separate cables. This avoids multiple stages of modulation for the sharpest, brightest picture and game graphics possible. Monster Technology Outperforms Ordinary Component Video Cables To keep up precise 75-ohm impedance, gas is injected into the dielectric insulator, for the brightest, sharpest picture possible. A double shield of 100% coverage foil and a high density copper braid grant most protection against radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic (EM) interference, which causes video snow. Monster’s Fiber Optic Cable Maximizes PS2 Digital Audio Performance Digital is the preferred high performance audio connection over analog because it has a wider dynamic range, which results in clearer highs and deeper, tighter bass, without the distortion common with analog connections. Monster LightWave 100 features a specially tuned fiber and polished termination for the most accurate surround sound possible. Maximize Your Sony PlayStation 2 Gaming and Movie Investment Play your PS2 with the best picture and sound possible. Use the best: Monster’s digital audio and component video cable.

If you have a AV system capable of component video and optical digital audio this is a must have. My kids just loved it! The picture was crisp and clean and playing various sports meeting in Dolby Prologic ][ sound was very cool!

By purchasing this cable set, you are limiting your options. You now must use your A/V receiver for sound whenever you play a game because you loose the analog sound connection you have with the 400 (the analog sound comes out of the same port as the video). Spend the 10 dollars you save on an inexpensive optical cable and you now have the best of both worlds, you have the option of using the tv for sound OR the A/V receiver with the same quality video. I will say that the video quality on my 62″ HDTV improved dramatically with the addition of the component (red, green, blue) video Gamelink 400 over the composite (one video cable) connection that comes with the PS2. But if you’re the kind of person who thinks the 450 MUST be better because it’s a larger number than the 400, it probably won’t matter to you anyway…

Splendid cables, picture, and sound. But, what they won’t do is turn a PS2 into a PS3. So sorry gamers, to get HD gotta go PS3. These cables are not the miracle cure but they do make PS2 sports meeting look and sound splendid on an HDTV all things considered. Plus, it’s better than shelling out several hundred bucks for the PS3. Although Sony is coming out with a new PS3 priced at $400 on Nov 2nd, but it only has a 40GB hard guide and isn’t backwards compatible with PS2 sports meeting. So, if you have an extensive library for replay regard then you’ll have to go with the 60 GB model or wait for the price to drop again.

The difference between the composite video and this cable is incredible. It in fact took a while for my eyes to adjust to how sharp and plain the sports meeting were. You can’t go incorrect with Monster Cables.

I didn’t have high expectations from this product since i’ve barely learned what component is compared to composite… so i was under the depression it wouldn’t be that much different right? WRONG! while it’s not xbox 360 quality it certain did step it up a notch. i have a widescreen lcd and the composite video the ps2 originally came with, the video looked rather soft and blurred (i hold responsible the lcd set stretching the image) but with this component video cable, the picture is alot sharper, in fact so sharp and plain i had to turn the sharpness on the lcd down. Well i haven’t had any experience with the one from sony or mad catz or no matter what else there is so i can’t be certain it’s monster’s quality materials that make this such a excellent investment. but the sony and mad catz look cheap, no monster product ever does. maybe that’s why they charge so dam much.
i’m pleased with it, i’d be even more pleased if i coulda got it for less
