Game Storyline
Each faction that you can choose to take sides with has their own types and models of mobile suits, each with their own specific specialty and purpose. The two rival factions described in the game are the E.F.F (Earth Federation Forces) and the Principality of Zeon. Dynamic game play allows you to take sides with either faction.
Gameplay
Powered by the PlayStation 3, changeable Suit Gundam: Crossfire throws you into the midst of futuristic war zones brought to life in ultra realistic graphics. Form your own mobile assault force, strategize their next moves and battle with them side by side while you command them to triumph.
The basic game objective is simple; blast owing to futuristic tanks and enemy structures, military aircraft, and rival mobile suits. The rival mobile suites form the bulk of the incoming opponents. You can see them moving on the horizon at the start of a mission, or you can spot their locations on your radar at the bottom of the screen.
One of the advanced aspects featured in Crossfire is the ability to inflict location-specific hurt. You can fine-tune your aim to ruin specific parts of a release enemy unit. For example, if you want to disable a rival suit’s laser sword, all you need to do is aim for his laser and shoot. The same goes for the feet, head and legs. Likewise, if you ruin a mobile suit’s head, it will disable its ability to see.
Each mission starts with a small briefing, complete with maps and satellite imagery. When you’re ready to play, choose which side of the war you want to join, and then play master to your mobile suits, and guide the ultimate weapons of war to victory.

I like this game and would recommend it to any one that is a Gundam fan or just someone looking to try something new. I never before played any of the previous sports meeting on the PS2 but after playing this game I went back and gave a few of the ancient sports meeting a look over. They are all very fun, colorful and exciting. This newer version Gundam Crossfire for the PS3 system is outstanding in my opinion. I played and beat the game three times and each time it gets more and more exciting. Each battle you become stronger your skills increase leaving the enemy helpless. I have played countless amount of times on the very hard setting achieving the rank of General while unlocking Gundams of all types as well as enemy mobile suites that are not selectable until completing the game with excellent status. I’ve found that the Gundam is the strongest followed by the Gundam Ez8. I say give it a try. Play it, beat it and keep going. See how quick you can complete the game as well as the individual missions. See if you can get a exact status of ‘S’ on every mission, see if you can complete most if not all mission without being hit by enemy fire. Make it fun, challenge yourself, challenge the game. I will preface this review with the caveat that I am a huge Universal Century Gundam fan, which accounts for much of my enjoyment with this game.
Graphically: As others have said, this is not the most spectacular looking PS3 game out there. The interactive environments help to make this feel less like a PS2 game but the by and large appearance of the terrain is a small last generation. The mobile suit and mecha models are incredible though! The conundrum is, there is no model viewer, a standard in most Gundam sports meeting, so you can’t take your time and really delight in the various models.
Gameplay: This game is ridiculously hard at points, if you are trying to do things carefully or use team tactics. You pretty much have to throw tactics to the wind and charge in madly, to hit objectives before you’re MS is torn apart, ignoring the enemy changeable suits that are murdering your wingman and shooting you full of holes. The more realistic speeds are hard to get used to since everything moves so quick these days, but I don’t necessarily feel this was a terrible thing to do. You certainly feel like you are moving about in something massive. I also liked the regional hurt, where you can have arms, legs and head hurt or shot off. It’s very satisfying to complete a mission when you are missing weapons, limbs and a head! The targeting system can get irritating though, especially since the enemy can target you long before you can target them. It’s not exact, but the controls are functional, and once you get used to the alacrity and tactics of the fighting, you can certainly end a campaign on normal mode in a few nights.
Music: Contrary to reviews I have seen elsewhere, I reflect the music is really outstanding in this game. It features full orchestra, and all new compositions (not just the classic Gundam music that gets recycled in every U.C. Gundam game.) It has a huge, epic sound to it, and I loved it so much I ordered the CD soundtrack from Japan.
Customization: You can customize your mobile suits, which is a nice touch, especially when you change the various types (Desert, Heavy etc.) For Gundam fans it’s a clean way to see the various pilot and variant paint schemes/designs. You can also get better pilots for your wingman, but here again they seem to have skimped and you only get names, without even a likeness to identify them. Unless you are a hardcore UC fan, you won’t recognize a lot of these people so they won’t have the significance that they should.
Tale: There isn’t much of one at all. The missions are pretty generic (capture this base, now defend it, shoot down this transport, etc.), and contrary to the cover’s claims, you don’t have any effect on the by and large war. The Feddies still win, no matter how well you do as Zeon, and all the major events play out just as they did in the series. I was also shocked that there was no high quality intro movie. There is even a small animation on you PS3 menu that plays a clip from a high quality rendered movie, but it’s not on the game itself!
Summery: It’s a excellent game, but it feels like it was rushed in development. Parts of it, like the music, and mobile suit models are incredible, and other parts, like the terrain, co-pilots, and game play don’t feel finished. Some of it (like cut scenes or more in-depth tale) isn’t there at all. It’s still worth picking up if you like Gundam, and know what you are getting, but it will no doubt disappoint most console players.

I was so mad when i played this game….i was hoping it would get better…but no…the controls are like driving a broken lawn mower. The invisible parapet are really irritating. Atleast in Armored Core you can go alittle past without leaving the mission, but this is just stupid. If i had to place a price on this game..hmm they would have to pay me to play it..it is that horrible, that disgraceful. The people who made it obviously have no ability to know what would be fun in a mech game (derranged error monkeys for techs?). I got so bored and annoyed with this game i place it in the microwave, you can guess what happened then. Do not buy this game if you have an IQ of greater than 12 or it takes something more than “ooh shiney” to entertain you. Armored Core on the regular ancient playstation (one) is more entertaining than this, it does not even use the graphics of the PS3 well. Gundam has a wonderful tale but this game does not even try to do it justice, this game should be forever stricken from the records. If you want a excellent mech game…get armored core…let this one rot in *censored*. DO NOT even rent it, you will just be thinking wow…i could have got a pepsi/coke for the cash i wasted on this. The only reason i gave it one star in each category is because zero was not a option.

i like this game it gets more exciting and harder the more u play owing to the tale mode beat it 4 times and still playing because they get harder and smarter more you play GREAT GAME FOR STRATEGY
