Mega Man 64

Product Description
Brand New and Sealed Nintendo 64 Game.Amazon.com Review
Unlike his many 2-D platform-stylishness shooting sports meeting of yore, Mega Man’s first N64 game looks similar to the 3-D stylishness of the newer Zelda sports meeting. In fact, this basically is a port of Mega Man Legends for the PSX.

The arcade blasting has been sprinkled with a small RPG drama. Deep in the game, there are huge areas to explore, items to learn, and people with whom to engage in somewhat childlike conversation. There’s also a ton of handy-dandy weapons and moves to use against the game’s larger bosses.

Sadly, the graphics are way too PlayStation-like. The borderline-primitive level and character designs are extremely bland, and show small attempt to make use of the N64’s graphics potential. Also, there’s an occasional conundrum with operating the camera to track enemies.

Mega Man 64’s somewhat fascinating, if goofy, tale line mitigates the game’s lackluster look, but it won’t satisfy gamers who are looking for deep plots or engaging characters. No, it’s not the same Mega Man that many gamers know and like; but, for video game newbies and casual game fans, that’s not such a terrible thing. –Mark Brooks

Pros:

  • Unadorned, mildly droll gameplay
  • RPG-action elements offer new spin on ancient character

Cons:

  • Substandard graphics
  • Occasional camera-control issues can picnic basket battles
  • Unadorned dialog seems written for 4-year-olds
