After that, it will likely sit on your shelf.
There are excellent things in this game: the RPG mechanics are fine (at various points in the tale you play as Frodo, Aragorn, and Gandalf), the visuals are gorgeous in parts, and certain aspects of game design are fantastic (Gandalf’s magic-casting stands out). Small touches make it appealing to right fans, like when Aragorn receives the repaired Sword of Elendil, and it glows during fighting. It would be a splendid game for even non-LOTR fans to play, since a excellent deal of backstory is provided in lengthy cinematics throughout the game. Fellowship’s greatest asset, of course, is the tale itself, as well as the bevy of villainous creatures that grant splendid boss-fight material. I’m sure many other sports meeting wished they had a Balrog to offer.
But the tale deviates strangely from the book in order to satisfy the format of an RPG game. The final boss-fight (which we won’t spoil here) is completely unrelated to anything devised by J.R.R. Tolkien, and it seems hollow, weird, and unsatisfying. The puzzles sprinkled throughout the game are random and often frustrating, as is your first encounter with the Ringwraiths (inevitably, you die many times–too steep a difficulty curve right out of the gate). This game is still strongly recommended, but with many caveats. Proceed with caution and you’re likely to delight in yourself. Expect a masterpiece and you’ll be wishing you saved your cash for a different PS2 title. –Jennifer Buckendorff

By and large, “Fellowship” has a rushed and incomplete feel to it. Very small of Tolkien’s trademark atmosphere is present in the game, and none of the environments truly feel like a living world at all. Key sequences are diminished by cut corners or perhaps technical limitations, such as the Council of Elrond scene. Apparently there were only so many character models to go around, as the council consists solely of the nine members of the Fellowship and Elrond.

I despise this game. The only reason I have it is because when I bought a Spyro game it was free. I played it probably 8 times before I found out its was dull and impossible to beat. I have never been a fan of Lord of the Ring but i thoght the game would be ok. I was incorrect. It was horrible. I have never played it in over 1 year. Even if you are a huge fan of Lord of the Rings I reflect your going to find this game dull and stupid.

The Lord of the Rings:The Felloship of the Ring would in person not be my choice. I completed the game in two days without difficulty dying only once. One of the worst sports meeting I have played the two towers I completed in the same time most of the Lord of the Rings sports meeting are crap so I’m bored of these damn rings.

Next to the two towers its self. You can controll Arogon gandalf or Frodo. the only terrible thig is you can’t choose legoles otherwise its splendid!

I just got a preview copy of this game and it is splendid. The characters look terrific for the PS2 and the combat system is awesome.
Gandalf is by far the coolest character to play.
The combat in this version vs the Xbox version is way better; its more cooler looking and more fun.
This is a splendid game!
