Best buy had a stack of these at a splendid price – so I selected one up before reading the other reviews here. I was slightly suspicious, because the tape on the boxes was broken, but none of them had a “returned product” categorize. Alas, the buttons stick (and somehow deleted my Star Wars Battlefront profile from my memory card!) and the d-pad doesn’t work very well. It’s incredible to me that this many people could have the same conundrum with a product from a company like Logitech! I guess this is why the price was so much lower at BB and is why I won’t dissipate my gas cash driving back to the store to return it.

I have bought 11 of these controllers and only 3 worked. The rest did not work out of the box. The ones that worked wore out way too quick. The reason I keep trying is I really need one to play final fantasy xi. It is so much simpler to play with one of these controllers. But they have buttons that are stuck on or that wont respond when I get them. I have contacted logitech and they have given me no support. There are no new ones. Any one you buy even if new in the box, has sat on a shelf for a long time. I believe this is why they dont work. I have had many many playstation controllers that work fine and take a lot more abuse than these netplay. They never have a stuck dpad or a stuck button.
It is very irritating that no one makes these controllers anymore.
Don’t buy this. It’s been meeting in some warehouse for years by now.

I too bought this to play with FFXI. At first, I tried to swap the controller with this unit. Immediately it acted like a button was stuck, selecting owing to all the characters in rapid succession.
I turned the unit off, to start from scratch. Well, I can’t even get passed the browser screen. After I brilliant the HDD icon, and hit the “X” button not anything happens.
I don’t know if it is because I have an ancient PS2 or if this keyboard has a defect.
I’ve emailed logitech, we shall see how that goes.

This Keyboard/Controller can’t be beat when it come to ease of use and comfort. But this is my fourth one I have had to buy in three years due to the same flaw every time. The left Directional control keeps giving out in the X axis and makes the system believe you are always holding down, Until the plastic parts inside by the side of the X axis break and you are no longer able to go fowards or backwards only left and right rendering the unit unusable. I am buying a fourth today since mine just gave out and I play FFXI, and I will proablly buy another in a year or so because there is not anything else out there like this and it’s a nessecity if your playing a game that requires a combonation keyboard and controller. Hope this helps.

My brother plays FFXI on th PS2 and nearly REQUIRED this item (because it is such a splendid item!) and recently bought one. I told him about all the terrible reviews and how buttons are stuck … but he bought it anyway. It was just as reviewed. Circle button stuck, mode button shuts off. But after you get past that the excellent points start to stick out.
First off, the “broken” button works fine (as long as you aren’t obsessive compulsive about the button clicking or critical ‘in’… a light tap works fine) and the mode button shutting off has something to do with the rumble function… but with such a huge controller we didn’t even want the rumble. After turning off the rumble or vibration function the mode button worked fine. I played .Hack//G.U. for half an hour with this controller to test it out and it works fine with these small tweeks. The keyboard (as previously reviewed) works wonderful and is the best part of this controller.
So considering this is a rare and no longer on sale item, I would highly recommend it. The only people who won’t delight in this controller are those who are obsessive about the buttons and vibration function not effective properly.
