if anyone wants to read tons they have over 50 other reviews they can read, i am just going to state my evaluation of this gimmick garbage.
for 1 it is obviously logitechs attempt to steal the n52TE’s thunder, sadly they fail. the ergonomics are completely ignored, which is what makes the N52TE the best speedpad on the market. this is just not comfortable, i dont care what WoW players reflect (saying you play it is at this point the same as saying “i am a tarded”) nor people who only play 2-4 hours a day, for the 10+ hour a day crowd that is throwing down in unreal or sports meeting that in fact involve skill this is near useless. another conundrum is the keys are too cluttered together, there is no way to COMFORTABLY use them all and whats more hitting the incorrect key is usually going to mess you up BAD. lastly the stick feels like it comes pre-broken.
the software is just mediocre, and if you have any problems with say a conflict with another device logitechs solution will be “call microsoft” which is pretty much the kiss of death in the world of tech-support. like having dropped profiles for no reason too, champion coding there logiturd.
now on to the LCD….USELESS! i wish i could make that word 100x larger, if you are playing any kind of game that involves skill, reflexes, or an attention span (not WoW or 90% of mmorpg’s) you will never use this or you will die. so why place it there? well to sell it to all the dumb kiddies obviously, c’mon that and affect change backlighting?! how many people seriously play in the dark for any amount of time (because it will make you go blind)? you will NOT be a better gamer due to the colors around your hand no matter what the affect is i assure you, and squinting to see who is talking in vent is going to cause eyestrain which sucks.
a friend in fact GAVE me 1 of these (he didnt care much for it either obviously) and i will most likely pass it off on the next fool that walks owing to the door and questions what it is. compared to the N52TE is is an overpriced gimmick that will most likely get you laughed out of a LAN party quicker than a Canadian tux.
if you read reviews of the g13 vs. the N52 realize the N52TE is a completely different beast (low profile keys, and a way better profile editor/manager for examples), it feels GOOD in your hand and can be adjusted for larger or smaller hands. the g13 ignored that fact completely and figured colors, a useless lcd, and too many buttons would make up for it. plus they figure they are logitech, people will buy it regardless.

Please take a minute to check out the logitech forum to get real user pointer on this device. The packaging states that the device features a analogue stick, but it does not. There is a thread about this at thier site. The product is otherwise very nice and designed well. But I bought this for the whole package and when logitech releases a crippled device that has no better features than the n52te I can not give it a low enough review. I will gladly revise my review when they release a fix for this. Misleading advertising is just not cool.

The hardware is only as excellent as its software. I’m honestly tech and play sports meeting regularly, so I am not unfamiliar with installing new game peripherals. Still, I was unable to get the G13 effective on my system. I run a straightforward Windows Outlook OS and tried using the G13 for 3 of the sports meeting Logitech officially recognizes on its website: Fallout 3, Warhammer Online and World of Warcraft… none of them worked. I’ve even gone so far as to manually input the game executable files with corresponding profiles I had set up on the Logitech G13 profile manager.
Another observation: The software does a poor job of recognizing sports meeting not installed in their default C: guide directories, it did not recognize of any sports meeting in the D: Guide.
The one star I am assigning this product is not a reflection of the actual hardware itself as I am unqualified to note on that. The low rating is due to its inadequate software and software recognition–critical components of any game perhipheral. My experience with this product has been frustrating to say the least and I have sent it back for a refund.

This added too much difficulty to my sports meeting. I had to keep reviewing how my keys are mapped and where my fingers are.
Most of us gamers have the “AWSD” keys memorized. This requires you to relearn that. None of the keys have a indent (like a keyboards F and J key) so you have to keep looking down.
Compared to my Microsoft Ergo Keyboard 4000, the keys are cramped and hand rest is too low. But maybe comparing this to the bet keyboard ever is not very fare.
I tried using this for 5 hours with left4dead and a complete play of the just released modern warfare 2. Never used the management thumbstick. Software looks cool, but I never used it either.
I reflect I just am bone idle and have gotten used to default keys. They are same for most sports meeting now days.
The coolest feature was the memory/cpu feature.
But to save desk space I rather return the device and go back to the more comfortable keyboard.

I have used a Nostromo n52 for about a year on my Macbook Pro and I loved it. I don’t play many sports meeting, instead, I programmed it for shortcuts in my CAD program and my RSS feeds and things like that. It became such an integral part of my workflow, I wanted one to use at home, too. I liked the look of the G13, the extra keys, and the slim design, so I can take it with me more easily. And the LCD felt like it was a nice touch.
I was disappointed to find that the piece did not come with the Mac Software on the CD and, after downloading it, I found I have to keep the key profiler program open for keys to work, using another space on an already full dock. I use the Logitech diNovo keyboard, so I have the “Logitech Control Center” already installed and don’t know why I can’t just have the G13 go owing to that.
No matter, I started programming it. The macro options are nice, but I would like more specific options, like a scroll or a “Open…” that will let me choose the program I want to shortcut to (there are currently built in email, internet, calculator, finder, and quicktime player options only). So I programmed the default settings successfully and went on to start with specific programs. The key map showed up and everything was unassigned. Not a conundrum, but when I clicked “Make default,” instead of assigning what I made the default, it went to the out of the box default, meaning that for each program I want to place into it I have to specify all keys and the joystick, rather than just tweak the default system wide settings I already programmed (Contour ShuttlePro and Nostromo n52 spoiled me by being intuitive, I suppose).
Hardware is nice, the LCD screen is excellent, the only thing I would change about the hardware is that I would like a scroll wheel somewhere (or an option to assign “scroll” to a key) but I knew that I wouldn’t get one going in.
I will continue using it in hopes of better software, but I am sorely disappointed by the lack of forethought that went into the contemporary programming capabilities. (Though it did find and preload the 2 sports meeting I have on my computer, so I suppose that was nice).
Probably splendid for gaming, but if you are plotting on using it to augment your productivity, expect some honest time dissipate on the front end.
