The instructor goes a small quick in the actual session, but they have so many opportunities to break down the steps in practices that you will be fine. I was able to learn more technical nuances of the poses from this game than I could from a large class because in the game you can zoom in even to see the angle of the instructor’s feet (but, unlike a class, you don’t have a person to right you if you’re doing the pose incorrect!).
I also loved the ability to make your own class (up to 90 minutes!); a nice, healthy way to kill an hour!
The only thing that I thought was eerie about the game was that all the instructors except for the home screen guru were girls.
Delight in!

This is an enjoyable way to gain yoga instruction without paying a hefty studio price. The graphics are brilliant and the five minute yoga sessions are exact for a busy person’s work day.

I am a yoga beginner and this DS game is exact!!! It’s simple to know, and I like the 360 degree ability to check out each pose! I am addicted to this and feel better when I complete a program.
I highly recommend this one for the yoga beginner

In person I like this program, and I use it just about every day, but I want to point out a few frustrating oversights.
(1) The box might as well say “No Boys Allowed”. There are no male avatars and many of the small routines are female-specific, like how to increase one’s bustline.
(2) Ironically (from a Western sense at least), despite being a very feminine game, the instructions freely throws around indelicate terms like “anus”, “constipation”, and “gas.” Some people could be offended.
(3) There is lots of dyslexia between what you are TOLD to do, and what the model does. For example, being told to turn your feet to the left, when the model turns to the right. In general, do what the model does.
(4) The designers have a very weird notion of what is hard. For example “Balance Pose” is taught before “Supine Balance Pose”. “Balance Pose” is a challenging one-legged pose you do while standing. “Supine Balance Pose” is a simpler version you do while lying down. Which would YOU rather learn first?
(5) The game cannot in fact monitor your posture or balance, which means that it cannot right you. I’m particularly concerned that some of the poses, when done incorrectly, can cause knee hurt.
Like I said, though, I do like this product, but it’s not going to be right for all people. In particular, if you are truly a yoga beginner, you would be better served by first learning the poses from a REAL instructor, then using this game to practice at home.
