My daughter rented it, and I’ve been playing it with her some. It’s pretty dreadful–maybe half a notch up from shovelware.
One specific point: if you’re colorblind, forget it. I can’t even see the difference between the two main characters.

The PS2 version is defective. Several vital controls stop responding about 30 minutes into game play. Of the two dragons (Spyro and Cynder), both are supposed to be able to go up in level, but the control needed to bring up Cynder (L2) does not work. Tried every possible button in case manual was incorrect, to no avail. The control to switch between Cynder and Spyro in release-person mode stops effective after the opening scene. In two-person mode, Cynder’s magical attacks stop effective after you lower the horn to the floor. Because of these broken controls, we became permanently stuck at “blow horn to open door” about 45 minutes into the game. Played owing to several different ways, and not anything helped — not even the Cheats listed on internet sites.
We have a new PS2 station, and we bought a new copy of this game. This isn’t like a PC game where there is some hope of a driver update to fix the conundrum, either. Only buy this game if you can find somewhere that will accept a return for cash or a different game entirely (NOT a new copy of this one).

I in person am in LOVE with this game. I have played all the Spyro sports meeting I own, from the first Spyro on PS1, the first second and third, then The Legend of Trilogies. I’ve played them all owing to a couple times. I can’t get enough with Spyro, I also hear they are making a movie in 3D called, “The Legend Of Spyro in 3D”. Comes out April I heard, so I can’t wait!
Back on track now, I like the scenery and graphics on this game. That includes music choices.
****But this next paragraph is a spoiler, so read at your own risk!!!!!****
I literally cried at the end of each game ’cause they had finished it so greatly. Though I cried the most at the end of this game, because I thought that Spyro and Cynder had both died. Then I found out after the credits they didn’t. All Spyro sports meeting I own are just incredible. I will soon get Spyro A Heroes Tail.
I would rate this as many times as I could because the acting, voices, voice sync, graphics, tale line (especially when Ignitus dies :’( ), and everything else they plotted/went perfectly.
I am a honest Spyro/dragon fanatic, I in fact have an obsession, but that’s just me XD
I would recommend this game to all, but I would advise you play the first 2 sports meeting before this one. Delight in the game if you bought!

Excellent Fun & Entertainment from an Ancient Friend!
I remember Spyro from the late 90’s when he made his debut on the PS1. Here we are ten years later and he is still going strong. Yes, the last few Spyro titles have been a disappointment, but for some reason Activision did it right and churned out a splendid game. I have to admit that since Spyro landed on the PS2 and the Gamecube including the Wii that the sports meeting have been a bit of a let down. The sports meeting were still playable, but missing that certain something quality that made the original first three sports meeting so much fun. The magic from the original creators had faded away.
Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon is probably one of the most gorgeous Spyro sports meeting to date. It’s simply gorgeous. This is also the first time that Spyro can glide in a game. I reflect the Spyro the character has really matured a bit and there is a certain grown up element to this game.
I wouldn’t call it a boss battle, but one of the huge monsters in the first level is a bit on the scary side and the way the game plays reminded me a small of God of War. I would say this game isn’t complete 3D like Mario. Spyro is restricted to what is visible on screen and the 2nd analog stick doesn’t function the way I would like it to. The second analog stick has always been used to rotate the camera angle around the screen 360 degrees, but because of the fact you are restricted to semi 2D/3D layout that one can only go the camera to what the game lets the player see, so its pretty much a 180 degree turn. I didn’t find this to be a BIG conundrum, but it was a bit irritating at times.
Other then that small annoyance i in fact found the game to be quite entertaining. It brings back some of the magic from the original Spyro sports meeting that were lacking on his PS2 days. This is certainly a title you want to add to your library and its hours of fun with a familiar face.
