Set in a modern day survival-horror universe, the co-operative gameplay of Left 4 Dead (L4D) casts four “Survivors” in an epic struggle against hordes of swarming zombies and terrifying “Boss Infected” mutants. Developed by Turtle Rock Studios and Valve, creators of the Counter-Strike and Half-Life sports meeting, the latest AI technology allows for multiplayer sports meeting of one to eight players.
A new and highly virulent strain of the rabies virus emerges and spreads owing to the human population with frightening alacrity. The pandemic’s victims become grotesquely disfigured widely violent psychopaths, attacking the uninfected on sight. As one of the “lucky” few apparently immune to the sickness, you, unfortunately, are also trapped in a city crawling with thousands of the bloodthirsty Infected. Alone, you’re dead. But together with a handful of fellow survivors, you might just fight your way to safety.
Players can play as a Survivor or as one of four types of Boss Infected, each of whom possess a unique mutant ability, such as a 50-foot tongue lasso or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas. The gameplay of
L4D is set across four massive campaigns. The android population of each mission is choreographed by an AI Director that monitors the human players’ actions and makes a unique and dramatic experience for them on the glide.

Well the truth is. It is the incorrect version of left 4 dead. I needed the one for Xbox 360. I will be sending this one back

I reflect this game is a over-hyped, been there-done-that kind of thing. Really, where’s the approach in all the mindless killing of zombies? Yeah, if you just want to shoot something over and over its fun but if you want more in the way of game make pleased and innovation then look else where. Valve sports meeting are all over hyped with HL2 as the exception. I have been playing PC sports meeting for years and I can’t believe so many fan boys here buy into it. There is so much more to PC gaming with Fallout 3 being a splendid example of a real game. My honest opinion about LFD is that it’s not anything but a updated version of last years “Hell Gate London” but done better. Excellent Luck.

My one star is merely for how long the installation and WAITto play the game took once I got it and not the actual game itself. I have a 512K Connection and it was the longest wait ever on a game installation.
The only drawback I can see to this game is the lack of variety in weapons. The things like Molotov’s, Gas Cans, Propane Tanks are VERY cool.
The Gatlin guns are fun 2 although not quite as useful as you would presume if the hordes happen to be comnig fro a management the gun won’t point 2 lol
For a horror movie fan like myself it’s a splendid game. I’d say the hunting rifle is my personal favorite especially when zooming in and going for head shots it looks like something right out of the new Dawn of The Dead or Romero’s Diary of The Dead. (the hospital level really reminds me of that movie). I would say if you delight in PC shooter and horror movies or even just into Android Flicks or 28 Days Later then this IS the exact game for you.

One thing straight. I have not tried MP. No time, no energy. This is a review of the SP version, which I guess that is NOT what people are buying this game for. It should have been promoted like the CS series, and my expectations would have been diffrent. Alot of times with other sports meeting MP mode bites the huge one, and the SP is the “main” promotion. BTW CS allows SP too with bots, just no fun. But I wouldn’t buy that as a SP game.
Quite possibly the stupidest game I ever played. Storyline, none existent. Run around shoot. No time to “sniff the roses” for video effects with AI always closing in around you. A mindless game for people with low attention spans, and no creativity.
Don’t get me incorrect. I have loved every Valve game. No other maker is more deserving of the title of greatest sports meeting ever made. But this? Makes me sorry for buying it AND presupposes me to doing without in any new release from them. It tooks YEARS for HL2, and many years later, still using the same ancient tired graphics. You heard right. Tired graphics. No physics or particle effects can make this game look excellent. Kind of reminds me how suckered I fealt after buying Doom 3. But I would gladly trade graphics for an fascinating game, which this is not. 2 GTX 280’s SLI, 790i mobo, 3.5 GHz quad pumping with Multi core enabled in game video options maxed out.
Something tells me this game is just buying the void between HL2 Episodes 10 and 11. Talk about milking a excellent thing. I went for the hype, and I guess I would like it better if I had NOT expected too much. Can’t even resell it because the key is permanently mine. Kudos if you get Steam going without firewall intervention.

Valve promised new characters, new weapons, new campaigns, new achievements…. and then they chose to release L4D2. Admitted in an interview, they started effective on L4D2 IMMEDIATELY after L4D (this game) was launched. The lobby system is still bugged, and we are still waiting for the SDK (to allow user-made make pleased) even though they were promised a long time ago. STAY AWAY FROM VALVE. They lie about what they have in store for their harvest.
