The USB version of Gravis’s GamePad Pro makes for an extremely unadorned setup–in Windows 98, all you need to do is plug it in and start playing. Mac setup is nearly as unadorned and involves an additional software installation with the provided software.
The GamePad Pro’s long 8-foot connecting cable gives you plenty of room to take a step or two back from your PC while gaming. The gamepad also features hot swapping so you can plug and unplug various USB peripherals without having to reboot or turn off your machine. In Windows 98, the gamepad uses the driver for an “HID Compliant Game Controller,” so you can start playing right after installation, without having to calibrate the pad. Upon installation, you can also immediately access the Test area of the Game Controllers function to make sure the gamepad is connected properly.
The GamePad Pro’s basic layout should be familiar to anyone who’s ever played a console game (in fact, it closely resembles the standard PlayStation controller). It has a thumb-controlled directional pad on the left for movement, four action buttons on the right, and four flipper buttons on the top of the pad to handle additional game controls. If you’re one of those folks who’d rather manage movement with a stick, the GamePad Pro also features an attachable joystick that screws into the middle of the D-pad. But, the pad can feel a bit small for users with significant hands.
The GamePad Pro works well for sports sports meeting (it was exact for NFL Blitz 2000) and action sports meeting, but is limited by the number of buttons for more involved sports meeting, such as first-person shooters.
In addition to quick installation, the GamePad Pro also boasts a nice sticker price. If you’re looking for an simple-to-use gamepad to handle basic controls in your sports meeting, the GamePad Pro should do the trick. –J. Curtis

At first, this gamepad was pretty excellent. The USB connection was too simple. If your a hardcore gamer, skip it, because after some ware, it shows it’s right colors. The buttons started malfunctioning within about 4 weeks of use.

It’s setup is exact because of the similarity to the Play Station controller. On the other hand, it is lacking in quality. It pooped out on me after about a month or two of usage. I will give Gravis some room, it may be an isolated incident and I intent to try their newer model in hopes that it is place together better.

This gamepad gives you the potential to play sports meeting at another level. There are less buttons to keep track of than on a keyboard so things are simple to control. You can place in a joystick or leave it out. Either way, you have splendid control.

I just bought this gamepad today from Compusa because I got a new computer that had no game port, so I need a pad that had a USB hook up. This caused me to give up my microsoft sidewinder, which I use on all of my sports meeting except for those that I can’t use it on. The gamepad works splendid, but there is only one flaw, and that is that the d-pad hits the corners sometimes when you don’t want it to. All in all, the splendid amount of buttons and the excellent design make this pad splendid, especially for sports meeting like half life and Quake 2.

In my opinion this is a exact gamepad. Well suited for emulators especially ZNES it has usable buttons for each of the buttons you would find on a super-nintendo control pad. If you are an avid user of emulators and your tired of using your keyboard to operate your sports meeting I would highly recommend this control pad.
