But, there will come a time when fighting is necessary, and the man-cub can use a number moves to get rid of the enemies including a butt-stomp and a vicious spin-attack. Since the game is optimized for the Game Boy Affect, the environments look like they could have been taken right from the film. I puchased this game for my son last Christmas (age5). This is a favorite of his. He gets owing to the levels pretty easily, with practice. With this game I can expect him to play for a hour but usually longer. This game is age appropriate. The levels teach patience, rembering skills and “How to” solve skills. The graphics are really splendid and the adventure to the next level is some what repetitious but, he likes this game.
Parents, can feel safe with this non-violent game (bonking monkeys) and the kids will delight in it.

Jungle Book has the most impressive graphics I’ve seen thus far in all the Game Boy sports meeting I’ve seen. Mind you I’m only the mother of the owners of these sports meeting but I’ve got to tell you…My 6 year son LOVES this game. And he’s very excellent at it. Jungle Book is his favorite animated Disney movie and this takes it one step further. It’s also a relief to not see the common “shoot ‘em up and die scenes.” I highly recommend it.

Who would’ve expected such a splendid game from this license? Not me, and excellent thing I got it anyway, because it’s a truly splendid game! In general I’d have to say this game is like Disney’s Tarzan on GBC taken to the next level. It even starts out with a georgous FMV just like Tarzan. The graphics in general are just stunning! So lush and full of depth that’s it hard to believe it’s playing on the GBC screen. You’ll have no conundrum at all believing you are part of Mogli’s jungle world. Adding to the effect are the incredible animations of the characters, espicially Mogli himself. I’m reminded of when I first played Aladdin for Genesis. His moves are so charming and varried. It’s like he’s really INSIDE your GBC!
The gameplay is really exceptional as well. And thank goodness, because a gorgeous game without a strong play factor still makes for an dreadful game. It’s a side scroller for sure, but what makes it stand out is that it’s full of small puzzles to figure out by the side of the way. No hopping on enemy heads in this game. Instead you must trick, lure and use yout emimies to help you reach new levels and gain potential ups. The levels start off pretty simple as you learn all the techniques Mogli has, but as you progress things get tougher and tougher. Make no mistake this game will get very challenging by the side of the way! I really like not blowing things up and stomping on enimies for a change and using my wits against them. There are boss levels where you have to do more of a battle, but for the most part you are just avoiding or manipulating your enimies. You even have to ride Kaa the snake in one level!
The one real flaw with the game is the music. Not that it’s terrible, but neither “Bare Necessities” or “I Wann be Like You” are included. How could they do that? These songs are essential for a Jungle Book game. The music included is excellent though and give it a jungle feel. The game designers make up for the music flaws with appearances of characters from the movie. Baloo, Bagheera, Kaaa, Shere Khan and the elephant patrol are a few of the characters to make appearances.
If you have a Game Boy Advance, this plays perfectly on it in the streached mode as it’s much simpler to see than on the GBC. In fact, I only play it on the GBA now. No matter the system though, if you’re looking for an innovative, gorgeous and fun game, look no further. You can’t go incorrect with Jungle Book!
