Like the last reviewers this game is so excellent and a must if you like match 3 type
sports meeting.

It is a excellent game for the first time. But there is not enough fun. I went owing to all the levels within 3 days and didn’t want to play it again.

In general I play puzzle and RPG sports meeting. I wouldn’t classify myself as a whiz or anything with puzzle sports meeting but I generally do fine and can complete them with some careful thought. I loved Cradle of Rome and various other match 3 type sports meeting. I did find Cradle of Rome frustrating too but it took longer (much) to frustrate me. With that said, but, this game still keeps me playing so that’s excellent.
The music is oddly creepy in some places which I didn’t really delight in. I liked the music in Cradle of Rome just fine. Outside of the creepy music everything else in here is excellent. I don’t know why I was so place off by the horror show sounding music in some areas of this one but it grated on my nerves and I eventually had to turn off the volume–which is a conundrum because some of the things that happen have auditory tones that I want to have heard.
In addition the sensitivity of the touch screen for these small boxes was not as excellent as it can be– there were several occasions where it did not register what I wanted to do or went an adjacent square. Based on the other reviews maybe this is just me (I did re calibrate my DS Lite and DSi just in case though and did not notice a difference). I couldn’t pick up a pattern on this so I’m still a bit baffled.
The difficulty of this game has been kicked up not one notch but several over the earlier Cradle of Rome effort. I’m in the low 40’s for level and a few of the level’s in the 30’s were an implementation not in thought but frustration. I do not delight in replaying a level 50 or more times to pass it. If that is something you delight in then I can recommend this game. I don’t mind replaying a few times (less than 20) but once you start to inch towards 50 or so I lose patience, and frankly, interest. I also don’t like when you replay that they change up the puzzle itself–I could find no rhyme or reason to it (if it is there then I am missing it) and its frustrating to me to lose and then have another puzzle but different type — perhaps it is meant to do the contrary and it is just me.
But, I recognize that I may be spoiled by some brilliant puzzle/RPG hybrids of late like Puzzle Chronicles and Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes both of which are outstanding sports meeting that use the match 3/4 gameplay concept. To be clear I was not expecting an RPG here–but a fun and challenging match 3 game.
The addition of the scarab beetle was kind of gifted–I liked it although it adds yet another layer of difficulty.
I truly adore match 3 sports meeting and originally I had this at 3 stars. After nonstop playing I would probably place it at about 3.5 stars. The thing that gets me the most is that fact the the levels vary wildly in difficulty. I prefer a gradual lessening of difficulty and not simple, simple, nightmare, extremely hard, simple, nightmare — well you get the picture. I can say that casual gamers will like this but likely give up if they are not obstinately persistent as I tend to be. Be aware that you have to be willing to spend weeks on a level if you get stuck. I can say there have been occasions that I wanted to throw the DS at the wall. Best to take a break during these times.
If you can deal with immense frustration at times and the uneven difficulty or are an expert at match 3/4 type sports meeting then give this one a try but don’t say I didn’t warn you!

This is an extremely excellent puzzle game! It’s very addicting and I have not been able to place it down since receiving it. It’s based on matching three like tiles (kind of like Jewel Quest), but there are assorted tools you earn throughout the game to help you complete the harder levels. You must clear all highlighted squares by matching the tiles. Once all highlighted squares are cleared, you must then clear enough tiles to remove the scarab from the penetrate. This presents an even greater challenge. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Jewel Quest or those type of matching sports meeting.

I loved Cradle of Rome and when I saw this come out, I couldn’t wait to get it. It is nearly identical to Cradle of Rome, but with a small twist at the end of each puzzle. You reflect you beat the game until you get that small Beetle that you have to get to the bottom before the time runs out. I found the puzzles a small simpler than COR’s but maybe that’s because I played so many sports meeting of COR that this is just a continuation of the game. Either way, it’s a splendid game and would recommend this to anyone who loved Cradle of Rome.
