I’m very sorry to say that I found Heroes of Might and Magic 5 extraordinarily disappointing. I say this as a fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic series. I loved Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and Heroes of Might and Magic 3. This version but, was thoroughly disappointing. the graphics in this game are unusually cartoony. The game lacks the magnificent seriousness, darkness, and character that heroes of might and Magic 2 and 3 possessed.
That seriousness, darkness, and character that Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and 3 possessed has been replaced by a sort of whimsical and cartoony experience that you might expect a five year ancient to delight in. The longer I played this game series, the more I felt like my intelligence was being insulted with dialogue being thrown at me of the type I might expect to hear on an episode of the Potential Rangers. in all seriousness, the character of the game has been toned down significantly.
The gorgeous soundtracks of Heroes of Might and Magic three have been replaced with dull and dull themes that I consider utter failures of composition. I’m sorry to have to say it, but as a fan of the series, I’m going to have to recommend passing on this game if you find any of the above information is unsettling.
I chose to give the game two stars instead of one star because Ubisoft did the right thing on their choice to patch SecuROM out of this game, which I consider a significant go in the right management. It’s a go I was pleased to reward with my buy lately. Too terrible the game itself failed to impress.

I’ve been a huge fan of the Might and Magic universe since I played Heroes of Might and Magic 2 when it first came out. The universe has had it’s ups and downs, but many of the sports meeting have been just awesome. I am very disappointed in Heroes of Might and Magic 5, it’s another one that subtracts from the universe of Might and Magic.
The graphics in the previous sports meeting were, and still are, just exact. The graphics in this one just absolutely suck. Why do they suck? They don’t take influences from the previous sports meeting to make it. Presume having 4 previous sports meeting, all with some splendid artwork and designs, and not using any of it. Instead, they took influence from pop culture. Remember the Gremlins movie? Gremlins in this game look just like the ones in the movie. Watch Anime? Yup, there’s loads of Anime looking characters, instead of Elves having realistic ears, they have ears that are as long as a leg. Seen Pokemon? There’s a Pokemon tree too. What would Might and Magic be without Pokemon making it better? Like hairspray? Some of the units like to use a lot of hair spray, they’re bringing huge hair back.
Because I like the graphics of the previous sports meeting, I won’t stop there. Whether or not you liked having Heroes on the battlefield in the 4th one, at least the women looked like women. In this one, if you pick a female hero, they look like a man. I want to see a female hero represented as a woman in the game, not as a huge man. The women even sound like men, how distracting is that. They couldn’t even add women in the 2 expansions they made.
What else sucks? They made this game from the Etherlords game engine. If you never played Etherlords, it won’t bug you, but I feel like I’m playing Etherlords 3. Doesn’t Heroes of Might and Magic deserve a better and new game engine? I reflect so. I believe they even used one of the same mounts from Etherlords. Once again, showing that they don’t have the sense to take influence from any of the previous 4 Heroes sports meeting.
What is excellent about this game is the combat. It took them many expansions and patches to do it, but they finally got the combat right, even if everything else sucks. Like the combat in Heroes 3? Then you’ll like the combat here. I liked everything about the previous Heroes sports meeting, not just the combat, so having horribly looking units detracts from the game a lot for me.
The music feels a small like Might and Magic music, that’s the only other excellent thing about the game. It is not as excellent as the ancient music, but it is still OK.
On the back of the box, it states that if this is the future of turn-based sports meeting, then bring it on. Really? Is that how people feel? If this is the future of turn-based sports meeting, I say you need to have your head examined.
Excellent combat, decent music, sucky everything else.
One other thing I’m disappointed about, this pool does not come patched. It came out after the patches were finished, but they couldn’t patch the game for us. So make sure you patch your game if you buy the pool. One reason I buy collections, is because they are always patched up, not so here.

Well, I have to say this is the first review I have ever completed, and it is not a clear one. Original Heroes 5 loaded, but crashes constantly. It is not the system, playing sports meeting with much higher requirments without problems. Hammers of fate, so far no problems. Tribes of the east? Can’t even get it to the load screen.
Even after patching only Hammer of Fate works decently. Support still has yet to get back to me. It shipped and arrived when they said it would, and everything they said was going to be in it was in it. Other then that…..

Got the game and got started on it. It’s a fun game. Better graphics then the ones before it. The campaigns go owing to all the available players involved. Do recommend it.

An in depth approach game that is loads of fun. The only down sides are that the game takes forever and a day to complete even one map. Another downside is that the AI cheats a small bit to give itself extra resources and that the game really isn’t any fun unless you play with friend(s). But if you can get some people together and play hot seat the game really shows its strength. I recommend this game for someone with friends that delight in similar sports meeting but if you’re just going to play by yourself look elsewhere.
