Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise from the Ashes

A first-person shooter/approach game based on a Japanese animation series, Gundam Side Tale 0079: Rise from the Ashes is strictly “fan fare.” Set around the time of the original changeable Suit Gundam cartoons, the war-tale plot here is from the grunt’s perspective, with players cast as the leader of a combat unit of changeable Suits (reflect giant robots). Gameplay is broken down into missions in which players command their own changeable Suit as well as issue instructions to comrades.
Although recent Gundam converts may be less than thrilled with the ancient-school looks (circa 1978) of the changeable Suits in Gundam Side Tale 0079, the 3-D graphics and animation of the changeable Suits are incredibly faithful to the cartoons, as are the sound effects. On the other hand, the experience of piloting a changeable Suit leaves much to be desired, as it’s not nearly as graceful as it looks in the cartoons, and feels more like you’re piloting a tank. The controls here are oversimplified, and the first-person cockpit-view perspective is about as effective as a peephole in combat situations.
While Gundam Side Tale 0079 is the first Gundam title to be released in the United States, it comes from a line of officially licensed titles that have always had a spotty history, one which this title simply doesn’t rise above. –Joe Hon

So i when i bought this game a Funcoland the peopel who worked there said if you like the show you will like the game… I didn’t realize that they where full of $h!t. Don’t dissipate your cash because this game wasted my cash and 10 minuets that i will never get back.

MY GOD THIS WAS THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! DEAR GOD IT WAS GOOD! I STAYED UP FOR 36 HOURS STRAIT PLAYING IT! I PASSED OUT MANY TIMES TRYING TO STAY AWAKE AND PLAY IT! BUY IT OR YOU WILL DIE FROM REGRET! NOW I AM GOING TO GO BACK AND PLAY IT! BUY IT NOW! DEAR GOD YEEESSSSSS!

Please bear in mind, the game is titled ‘Side Tale’ It’s not in fact involving the RX-78 series Gundams, but the RX-79 GMs or General Manufacture changeable Suits. Also, this has *absolutely* not anything to do with Gundam Wing. Gundam Wing itself is a Alternate Timeline tale. AC (After Colony) versus the UC (Universal Century) of the actual Gundam universe. This game takes place in the aftermath of the first operation where a colony was dropped on the earth, *before* the deployment of the prototype RX-78 Gundam. The Federation was just beginning to deploy changeable Suits while the Jions had been using changeable Suits for quite some time………….

Being the experinced gamer that I am it takes a excellent game to get my attention and this one did. I first rented the game and fimished it in about half a day(with lots of breakes in game play) The thing of it is is that I baught the game after I had beaten it (very weird) and I still play it today. I have a shelf of dust colecting DC sports meeting because Gundam has been in my system so long. GO OUT AND BUY THIS GAME
