Remastered in high definition and re-released for play on the PS3 this pool allows both longtime fans of the series and those coming to it new to indulge in the addictive action and puzzle-solving fun of taking on the gods ruling the world of ancient Greek mythology.
The God of War Saga Now for the PS3 Let loose the potential of the gods and go aboard on a merciless quest as Kratos, an ex-Spartan warrior driven to ruin Ares, the God of War. Armed with the lethal double chainblades known as the Blades of Chaos, Kratos must carve owing to mythology’s darkest creatures — including Medusa, Cyclops, the Hydra and more, while solving intricate puzzles in breathtaking environments. Driven by pure revenge, not anything can stop Kratos from achieving absolution. Over time, Kratos becomes the most vicious warrior in Ancient Greece and bathed in blood to a point where he can’t bare it anymore and sets out on a journey to kill Ares. But, the only way to ruin Ares is to find Pandora’s Box, which is located in a temple that’s perched upon a hill and guarded by traps, puzzles, enemies, etc. The tale is told as a flashback of three weeks prior to where the opening movie cutscene starts and then sets the stage for the game. God of War II God of War saw Kratos, a mortal warrior, set upon an epic quest to overwhelm a god. But his journey did not end there. In God of War II, Kratos, the once mortal warrior turned ruthless god, sits atop his throne on Olympus, and is a threat far worse than his predecessor Ares had ever been, striking down anyone who crosses his path, or the path of his beloved Sparta. Filled with potential and rage, the “Ghost of Sparta” sets out to alter that which no mortal or god has ever changed ? his fate. Facing mythical characters, all bent on preventing him from reaching his goal, Kratos’ journey brings him to the very edge of the Earth. But this is Kratos, and his defiance is filled with such arrogance and contempt that all of the ancient world still trembles at his name: Kratos, The God of War. Key Game Features

I chose to get this game because I heard time and time again about how splendid GOW was so I got the GOW pool because it was remastered on a blueray disc. Well I started playing it and I dont see why people like it so much. Everything you do in this game is repetitive, hack, hack, slash, tap, tap, tap,BORRRRIIINNNGGG! The graphics are ok for a last generation system, dont let the blueray disc it comes on fool you, the graphics are still chopped up and blocky, remastered, yeah right, this game was just converted from a regular dvd disc to blueray with no sign of remastering at all except maybe the colors are brighter WOW is that all.I thought I could look past all the highdefinition problems if I just had fun playing the game but I just could not get into it, I dont like doing the same thing over and over again after about 2 hours in the game I lost interest and traded it in. As for GOW3, I hope they drastically do some changes so it doesn’t end up like the first 2 sports meeting, I mean we’re talking PS3 here not Atari.

This game could be a lot of fun. Splendid graphics, splendid controls, and splendid tale line.
Having played tons of sports meeting of this genre: the only thing I don’t like is that there are a few places where the game is frustratingly hard, even on the simplest setting. To me it’s just not fun to have to spend days and days trying to get past one small thing (like a jump that has to be perfectly set up and timed or a monster that you just can’t figure out how to kill). This really has not anything to do with solving puzzles or figuring out what to do. Knowing what to do is quite simple. It’s just that the controls don’t work as they are supposed to or require an level of precision that is just ridiculously over the top for the situation you are in as compared to the rest of the game. It’s pointless that backwards jumping off of a pillar to another pillar is more hard than killing a boss or figuring out a puzzle. It’s called terrible design.
I’m making more use of hints/walkthrough pages on the internet than I’d like, but otherwise I’d probably have given up.
So far it’s really too irritating to be fun or worth my time.

I like God of War 1 and 2, make no mistake, they “were” awesome on the PS2, but my review is not the game’s themselves as they were originally released, I’m taking note of the changes. I bought the pool hoping that it would look better with the remastering in 720 HD, I wasn’t expecting 1080p, I did read the back of the box. Yes the frame rate ran very charming, yes the anti aliazeewhatchacallit was nice, but what the box or even the instruction manual failed to mention was that the aspect ratio was stretched to give it that 16×9 look (not even the full 16×9 by default). So we get a stout Kratos, oval buttons, and a stout world. Some people don’t mind their aspect ratio’s messed with, those same people probably have wide screen tv’s with standard definition signals stretched so they can get the most out of their fancy new screen. I’m sorry, but if they can get away with releasing movies that are still 4:3 onto a bluray and call it HD (Gunbuster 1) then why couldn’t they do that with the God of War’s? They could still up the frame rate and the anti no matter what and still give it trophy support without stretching it (or at least give you a full range of aspect ratio options instead of stout and fatter). God of War is practically the mascot for playstation and I would have thought they could have done better for the legacy sports meeting. I promptly traded it to a friend for something non stretched.

It’s excellent for people who haven’t played GOW1 and 2 on PS2. I reflect there’s no need to mention what quality they are on PS2 platform, I rate them as the best action game ever on PS2.
The game itself has small difference to the original ones, they says they improved the graphic to 720P and remodeled in 60 fps, but in fact, you can barely feel the difference. The models, the environments, are all 2007 level so even though it’s been up to 720P it’s still PS2 graphics. And the trophies… Well if they mean a lot to you then you may buy the game can grab them, but they are really means not anything to me.
So I strongly recommend NEW players to dwell in, you won’t get disappointed; But, if you had played it before, probably you should save the cash unless you really need the trophies, or your PS3 are not capable for PS2 sports meeting.

Excellent upgrade of a classic from the PS2 Era; I do recommend it to anyone who either loved the originals, or never played them. But, imho this game is just excellent, not incredible.
