Garfield’s Nightmare is a 2.5D side-scroller that features platforming gameplay with gorgeous graphics. See your favorite stout feline, Garfield; trapped in lasagna, pizza and donut induced nightmares. A severe case of over-indulgence before bed leads to a dream so terrible he can’t wake up without piecing together his smashed alarm timer to free him from his fretful slumber. The goal for each level is to travel from one side of the game world to the other. In-between this, you’ll need to collect various items and kill terrible guys that generally pose small threat to your progression. Enemies and crazy challenges litter your path so reflect quick and play smart to save the day and night for Garfield. Help Garfield keep up his energy level by collecting lots of tasty food throughout the game including donuts, and of course, lasagna

This is not exactly a thinking game (although occasionally you need to reflect your way thru a level), but it is a splendid game that will keep you entertained for a while. The graphics are excellent but not splendid, but the entertainment regard of the game more than makes up for it. Reflect Pitfall from the ancient Atari sports meeting (if you’re ancient enough to remember it) with a sprinkling of puzzle solving and you’ll get the gist of what this game is about.

This is an ancient school type of game that keeps my kids attention even if it is 2D. It reminded me of the ones I used to play growing up but with many more levels and challenges. Garfield runs and jumps his way owing to the spooky landscape, eating by the side of the way. There are 4 different worlds to roam owing to and find the 4 pieces of alarm timer that will wake Garfield up from this nightmare world. It is simple enough to figure out and doesn’t grow ancient quick.

Garfield’s Nightmare is geared to kids without losing any of the punch found in Mario Bros. Garfield gathers donuts instead of coins and the various ghost, spiders, bats, and such are less aggressive (at least on the early stages we’ve seen so far) than the various imps on Mario. The kids delight in playing it themselves and watching me play it, as well.
