Gamecube Wavebird Wireless Controller Grey, Silver, Compatible with Wii
Amazon.com Product Description
Wouldn’t it be nice to play sports meeting without a cord stretching across your living-room floor, especially if you have small kids or large dogs in your household? Nintendo’s Wave Bird isn’t the first wireless controller ever brought to market, but it’s a whole lot better than what came before. You may remember a brief fad a few years ago with spotty infrared devices. These units failed because they were a lot heavier than standard controllers, and also because they required a direct line of sight between the controller and the infrared receiver. The Wave Bird is much lighter (it weighs a bit more than a regular controller) and uses radio frequency signals for reliable game control at distances of up to 20 feet. Unless your playing on a stadium-size TV screen, that should be more than enough. The unit will last for about 100 hours of use on just two AA batteries and has 16 channel frequencies, so you’ll easily be able to hook up four controllers without interference.

Sure it has its advantages. This conroller is a lot simpler to store because there’s no messy wires to roll up, and when you’re playing with freinds, you dont have to agonize about tangles. But, it does not have the precision of a standard controller. You can tell when you first try it that there is a small lag in the reactions, and once the batteries get ancient, it lags more and more and sometimes doesn’t even work at all. By and large, the concept is excellent, but it needs improvements.

This is a cheap piece of [junk] that weighs as much as the huge xbox controller. At least that contoller has rumble.

The wavebird controller sucks. You need to keep buying new batteries every couple weeks. It depends on how much you play. I reflect it is better to buy the one with the wire

The nintendo gamecubes wavebird controller is okay…it’s nthn special it just lets you play from long distances…the only thing is u have to like point it towards gamecube….(just like remote u have to point towards tv) i got this because 1 of my controllers a cheap company 1 (intec) was not effective right so i chose y not get a wavebird….
the things i don’t like about wavebird is it uses batteries and u have to point it towards gamecube without anything blocking the controller indicate thing thats in the gamecube controller slot….i should have just got a standard ngc controller…
the wavebird is excellent though….if you want to play from long distances and don’t care about buying batteries then this controller is for you…but i would choose a standard controller over a wavebird…i give the wavebird a 3 out of 5.
