Product Description
Recharge your Nintendo DSi or DSiXL with this touch charge pad from CTA Digital. Using the included screwdriver, just switch out the DSi or DSi XL batteries with the supplied induction technology batteries and you won’t have to change batteries again! The touch charge pad can be powered by a USB potential fund or owing to a DC 5-volt potential adapter. With this touch charge pad, charging is as unadorned as laying down the DSi or DSi XL on this charger and letting it do the rest!

I bought this item because my DSi’s charger port got broken and plugging in any DSi charger would no longer charge the system.
By and large, the product does what it’s supposed to. You install the new array, place it on the charging plate and turn the plate on via a switch in the back. Four LEDs on the front will continue to blink until the unit is fully charged, in which all four LEDs will stay lit up. The average charging time is about four hours. So as far as functionality and ease of use, it’s in fact quite excellent.
I’m not sure if I’m misinformed or my memories of the DS Lite are clouding judgement, but a full charge with this device leaves only 3-4 hours playing time on my DSi with full brightness. Assuming that this is not the norm, this is why I dinged the score one star. Also, when you buy the package, it comes with a screwdriver that doesn’t fit the DSi screws (luckily I had a mini screwdriver kit with me) and you don’t get a charger. What you DO get is a USB cable that plugs into any standard USB AC adapter (i.e. an iPhone plug) or your computer’s USB port. I have mine plugged into my laptop right now.
Pros:
- Does what it’s supposed to do.
- The plate charging technique is quite clean
Cons:
- Included screwdriver doesn’t fit DSi screws
- Does not include charger wall plug (only a USB cable)
- A full charge only gives my DSi 3-4 array life (not sure if this is standard with normal DSi chargers/batteries)
