This is a solid buy for fans of Turn-based approach sports meeting. The tale is on the far side of ridiculous, but once you learn to ignore that, the gameplay shines. There’s a splendid deal of customization, and the game is honestly long, especially if you’re doing the side battles, and card management. If you’re a approach fan, you won’t find too many better options out there on the DS.

Turn based approach is one of my favorite genres. Advance Wars has been one of my favorites ever since it came across the Appeasing. I can’t say that Drone Tactics is as excellent as Advance Wars, but it certainly holds its own when it comes down to raw gameplay.
Tale: 3/10 Dull, generic, poor dialog. This is not the reason you want this game. To sum it up you are a bug-loving kid with some friends who share your fascination with the tiny creeps. You all get pulled into an alternate world in which bugs talk and can become giant robots. You fight to save their world against other humans that have evil plans for the poor small (or giant if they are in robot form) bugs.
Music: 7/10 Adequate enough. Not anything fancy, but it serves it’s purpose.
Graphics: 9/10 For a DS game these are really nice graphics. There are 3-D animations of the bugs when you attack. Let’s just say they look brilliant. Otherwise you are looking at 2-D graphics on the battlefield, but they are nice as well.
Gameplay: 10/10 This is the key to this game. You get one each of a variety of different drones (e.g. Butterfly, Praying Mantis, Pill Bug) with their own special characteristics. For the pleasure of customization freaks everywhere you can also equip your drones with different weapons that can change potential, accuracy, alacrity, and other stats. You also buy cards to assemble a deck. You can use each card once per battle (they don’t disappear permanently, you just can’t use it multiple times per stage) with varying effects such as healing, extra hurt, teleporting a nearby ally to another location, and dropping obstacles. The cards add more approach to an already deep game. When you use a card to increase your hurt you play some minigames to see how much extra hurt you do. All of this adds up to a game that keeps every battle fresh and fascinating. You can also play multiplayer with a friend (not online), but I don’t have anyone to test it out with.
By and large: 9/10 I can’t say this game is exact due to the mediocre music and tale, but the strategic gameplay more than makes up for it. If you like turn based approach sports meeting you will probably delight in Drone Tactics. And, hey, it’s produced by Atlus. That speaks for itself doesn’t it?

Drone Tactics starts off like most terribly written sports meeting: with a stroyline that is very forgettable. But, don’t let the storyline fool you. This is one game you shouldn’t underestimate.
I was intrigued by the fact that you can use bugs to battle, as opposed to more military based vehicles and aircrafts like in Advance Wars. I figured why not? So, I gave it a try and since then I have been pretty much hooked on the game. It’s not like some other of these approach based sports meeting where one of your members dies and you can never get them back. On the contrary, even if they die in battle they will still get EXP!
Some battles can be very long depending on your contemporary level but that’s when the Badlands comes in. This is the place to train your “drones” so as to get more EXP, weapons, and cards. The badlands levels are quite challenging also and will certainly keep you entertained for hours.
As for the sound and graphics, I would say the graphics are quite impressive and the fact that you can in fact see your drones battling on the top screen on the DS is also pretty cool. The soundtrack is not too terrible either. A lot of the music in fact goes quite well with the levels and can be quite enjoyable.
All in all Drone Tactics was a pretty excellent game and I recommend it to anyone who really enjoys approach based sports meeting, since no else will probably delight in it.

A few weeks before my birthday, I learned Drone Tactics. From then until my birthday, I was saying that I really want it pretty much every ten minutes. When I got it, it was a lot better than I expected! It’s really fun. Plus, it has a splendid storyline that’s filled with surprises.
