Darksiders is a third-person, release player action/adventure game inspired by the characters, themes and mythology of the apocalypse and the battle of Armageddon described by the Book of Revelation. But this modern interpretation is not your run of the mill Sunday school stroll owing to the New Testament. In the game players take on the role of “War,” one of the dread Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. But things are not as they were.
Once the unstoppable and just wielder of divine retribution, War is now reduced in stature and cast out amongst the ruined lands of the Earth that he himself devastated. All that ruins is the search for the truth behind his betrayal and the survival of its consequences. The TaleDeceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War – the first Horseman of the Apocalypse – stands accused of breaking the sacred law by rabble-rousing a war between heaven and hell. Dishonored and stripped of his powers, War must return to Earth to search for the truth and punish those responsible. But there is no clear definition of excellent and evil in this tale. Hunted by a rancorous group of angels, War must take on the forces of Hell, forge uneasy alliances with the very demons he hunts, and journey across the ravaged ruins of the Earth on his quest for vindication. But the answers he seeks will reveal a deep conspiracy in which War will find, and have to resign himself to the reality that although once the hand of God, he is just a pawn in the eternal battle between heaven and hell. Gameplay A mix of exploration and quick-paced action gameplay, Darksiders is based on nonlinear play situations. That means that as War at a snail’s pace regains his previous powers of destruction and carnage in order to continue his search for the origins and reasons for his betrayal, players will be able to backtrack to areas and scenarios that they may have left unexplored upon first discovery. Nearly all areas of the game can be explored and some of the things players will find as they do so are treasure chests, shape chests, and bonus life points, etc. The ability to go back and explore areas is vital, especially as the game progresses and War finds himself up against enemies whose defeat require special skills and/or weaponry. As for combat gameplay, Darksiders features a variety of weapons–including blades and firearms–that can be used in combo moves or in release strikes. Some of these can be charged up for quick, but devastating attacks on enemies and all can be arranged on your controller’s D-pad for simple and preferred access. Additional gameplay elements include the ability/necessity to fight from the back of your mount, Ruin, and the pool of the souls in the form of glowing orbs that fall to the ground as enemies are dispatched. The latter can be used to level up War with new items and abilities. Varied Characters and Environments Although players take on the imposing role or War, Darksiders also contains a wide variety of equally intriguing and sometimes frightening characters. These include: an assortment of rancorous angels; demons, such as “the Jailer” whose body is made up of the ruins of countless cadavers; a bestiary of wicked and vile creatures made to bolster the armies of hell on Earth; and Ruin, the trusty steed of War. Gameplay environments players will experience are equally varied, and include areas both underground and on the surface, that call to mind both familiar, if ruined modern urban environments, as well as ones seemingly pulled from the lurid scenes of the biblical apocalypse. this game has SOOOOOOOOO many problems. the frame rate is terrible (“tears” all the time). but that isnt the worst part. i was in the middle of a quest tryin to get three ice swords. the first was no conundrum, but the second. Well thats a different tale, i did what i was suppose to and got into the room with the second sword and when i selected it up it was invisable. i could swing it and the character would go owing to the motions but not anything was there. i didnt reflect much of it a first (maybe it was a one time qlich), so i exited to the xbox 360 dashboard and started the game again. when it reloaded i was at the same spot, so i went over to check if the sword was there but…..it wasnt., so i went to check if maybe it was in the staute i was suppose to place it in. it wasnt. so now im stuck at a part i cant get past because the item i need isnt were its supose to be (or anywere for that matter). thats not the worst part though it did it to me FOUR (yes thats right 4) more times and the same thing happened. so now i have place about 20 hours into this game and still cant get past this part because the item keeps dissapering after i pick it up… IF THERE WAS ANY RATING BELOW ZERO THIS GAME WOULD GET IT….WORST GAME EVER…if this happens to anyone else plz friend me so i cant submit a recomondation to THQ to shut its doors and stop making horrible sports meeting.

I was very disappointed in this game. I bought it, played it twice, took it back and traded it. I expected it to be similar to god of war but not exactly like it. If I wanted to play GoW I would have brought out my PS2 instead of waisting 50 bucks on this. I at least expected the graphics to be better but they werent at all. Maybe later in the game you get a horse? but I didnt know the whole concept of a horseman not having a horse. I didn’t sit owing to it long enough to end cuz I was so disappointed. Traded for Prototype instead and it was the best go Ive ever made cuz its pure awesome. If you havent played GoW this game would be excellent since GoW isn’t on xbox but if you have dont waist your cash.

Combat is not excellent, it feels slow and cumbersome. The X button basically does all the combos for you, makes it fun if you like to press one button. Frame rate was having problems during the first 35 minutes, played a total of 2 hours before calling it quits. I believe the developer is on a excellent road, but they didn’t live up to the hype on this one.

Ok lets pretend this beginning is at the end. But its really like an FBI warning at the start of a film.:D
Btw if you don’t like the review don’t read it, its called an opinion. And opinions are like #$#holes everyone has one, much like the people who have to bash you and call you a liar for not liking the game. It was closer to six, about 5hrs and 45minutes, for those people who have to be so precise. Excuse me. Go bash someone else about there review. Its a bring shame on no one can have a unenthusiastic opinion.
So many sports meeting seem to be based on the end of time, or the apocalypse hereafter, i reflect this market will be quickly dried up much like the FPS genre. You fight as a guy named War(pretty catchy huh) as you are sent back to earth to seek revenge on angels and demons from heaven and hell. While this sounds fascinating at first, the game quickly disapates into a regular hack and slash fest that takes its toll on you after about an hour. The game itself is only around 5 hours long, so you really don’t get your moneys worth. The controls are hit and miss, the graphics are decent, and there are some fascinating puzzles to solve as well, this but doesnt change the fact that this game was rushed out to compete with other sports meeting in the same vein. God Of War 3 has been hyped up, and hard-pressed back for around 2 years now, so many developers seem to try to compete with its gameplay, and somewhat with its tale line. So far we have Darksiders, Dantes Inferno, and God Of Wars 3 all being about the same, in terms of battle, bosses, and tales. So who will win the prize this year? Well i reflect its pretty obvious, but i did like the Dantes Inferno demo every bit as much as the God Of War3 demo, so who knows. Darksiders is at its best Mediocre, some will praise it, some will despise it, i for one loved it for around an hour or so, but went ahead and finished the game since i did pay for it. It was a task to end, and in the end i really felt not anything, just like i had completed yet another God Of War clone. But hey, thats what people seem to want.
