Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor is the stand alone — meaning it doesn’t require an earlier game version — expansion to the 2006 Game of the Year winner and highest rated Real-Time Approach (RTS) franchise Company of Heroes. Featuring new campaigns to overcome, units to command, and battlefields to conquer, Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor delivers evolved gameplay mechanics and three episodic adventures containing 9 new missions, 3 new multiplayer modes, and new abilities to master.
Three Tales in One Game In addition to its release player campaigns, Company of Heroes also features significant new multiplayer functionality. The first example of this are the variety of vehicles that players will have access to in multiplayer modes. These include, but are not limited to, the ‘Schwimmwagon’ an German amphibious vehicle used for reconnaissance missions and enemy troop harassment; the Hellcat, a sturdy Linked plane valuable in battling tanks from above; and the Kangaroo, a heavily armored, British troop carrier. The game also contains three new multiplayer modes which utilize both Linked and Axis forces. ‘Stonewall’ mode is a co-op mode where players work together to fend off invasion as they struggle to keep a town from falling under enemy control. ‘Assault’ mode challenges players to push the limits of the front line as they choose a unit, battle opposing enemy units and attempt to ruin the opposition’s headquarters. And finally, ‘Panzerkrieg’ is an all out arcade stylishness tank battle where every unit is out for itself. Direct Fire Control As an extension of Company of Heroes’ focus on small-scale, but intense combat, Tales of Valor features a new optional targeting system known as ‘Direct Fire.’ Owing to this players can target exact spots on tanks or other vehicles, specific areas of the battlefield or even individual soldiers within a unit. This ultra specific targeting system allows players to get even closer to the action than in previous sports meeting, yet is toggle based, making it is simple for players to return to standard firing as you choose. ‘Direct Fire’ is available in all release player campaigns, as well as the ‘Panzerkrieg’ multiplayer mode. Company of Heroes is one of the best approach sports meeting I have ever played. If you are into RTS sports meeting or WW2 then I would highly recommend checking this game out. In this expansion Relic added 22 new maps, immensely improved the computer AI, added 2 new units for each faction, added new operations, and the campaigns are small but sweet.
People who are whining about this game need to lighten up. This isn’t a CoH 2 it’s a stand alone expansion for $[...] bucks! Also if you are only into release player type sports meeting I would recommend playing comp stomps online. It’s fun playing with friends against the computer and the expert AI is very hard to beat.

Do not buy any relic or thq pos sports meeting theyre unbalance and the company is to blind to fix it the game needs honest work on redoing everything thing on the game they half assed everything, it reminds me of the Microsoft game called age of the empires lack on really effective on the game to balance anything out and when they do patch it they dont fix what really needed to be fix.
blizzard sports meeting is the way to go they have their stuff dead on and sure it takes years in the making but when its release out its near exact.

First off, if you’ve never played Company of Heroes before, GET THIS. It includes all four armies (British, American, Panzer Elite, and Wehr) and maps from the original, PLUS the new TOV multiplayer modes, units, and singleplayer missions. For a very, very, very low price.
The original COH was and still is the best real time approach game of the last five years, no questions questioned. I like it much more than Relic’s DOW2. It is intense, it is graphically impressive, and it is unique. Far from a C&C clone, COH pushes you to reflect beyond the “rock-paper-scissors” mechanic. Units have a wide variety of uses and are quite customizable. Your rifelmen squads can be outfitted with sticky bombs to disable tanks. Your engineer squads can be armed with flamethrowers to clear out trenches and buildings. The list goes on.
As for the expansion itself: I just finished playing for 12 hours or so. You get three new modes, no new factions, and several new units that replace existing units in the game. The regard is much lower if you’ve already got OF and the original.
Of the new modes, the DOTA variant called Assault is the most messed up. You team up with a group of AI controlled soldiers who constantly come from off the map to charge at the opposing side. But you only directly control ONE character — a “hero” unit. It’s unrealistic, but your hero gains strength and skills as he progresses, and can take mortar rounds to the face and survive. The level of chaos is huge and the amount of teamwork required is intense. If you play with other humans on your team, it simply is a MUST for you to coordinate what classes your heroes are (e.g. one person as a heavy, one as a medic) in addition to what they’re doing.
The conundrum? It’s not even remotely balanced. The heavy machine gun hero is the way to go. It’s nearly stupid to pick another hero. I’m not sure if Relic bothered to balance this, but the heavy hero has the best abilities (can take reduced hurt, sprint, and inspire surrounding troops), and — if you upgrade his armor — is hard to take down even for snipers (supposedly his natural counter). Huge huge oversight.
Stonewall, the mode where you need to defend against hordes of AI, is equally intense and requires coordination as well. It’s a lot of fun, and allows you to use resource management. You need to defend the bank, church, manor, garage, and your HQ — all of which grant unique functionality and bonuses. Relic needs to really increase the difficulty here, though, as it simply is too simple to be more than a unadorned diversion. I have no thought why difficulty is not highly customizable. There’s literally zero difficulty options. The free D-day mod made by the community was probably better..
BIG PROBLEM: Relic provided only ONE map for each additional multiplayer mode. You cannot play Assault on all the other maps — there’s just one assault map, for example. Same for stonewall. This is very bone idle and disappointing, honestly. No thought what they were thinking here. Stonewall could have been a splendid mode with more maps and options controlling the difficulty, but what is here is extremely limited. Fortunately, Relic has opened up mod support, so I expect the community will respond by adding maps. But there’s no excuse for making the community do your work for you, honestly.
The Panzerkreig mode, where you control a release tank, is the best new mode by far. There’s different points on the map to control — some for artillery, for example — and several different types of tanks to pick from. They include quick tank killers and more versatile Shermans. You can call in bombing runs on other tanks and radio in for infantry squads to back you up. It’s the simplest mode, but also the most fun, and I cannot wait for more maps from the community to keep it fresh!! Splendid for 2-6 players.
The new units for vanilla multiplayer are a cool variation but not anything major. Time will tell. I’ll update this review when I know more. I will say I really like the new Hellcat. A small more fascinating than the traditional tank destroying, trading some armor for a machine gunner and a cooler design.
Note: I have not played release player and do not be going to to. This is a multiplayer game. I tried release player in the original version and thought it was pretty much horrible. Also, please be patient — this is the launch day, so there are kinks that Relic WILL work out. They’ve been patching the original game for three years now!
Bottom line: Intense. Fun. It’s like commanding a mission of Call of Duty from overhead. It’s a 5 if you don’t own the other sports meeting, but a 3 or 4 if you do. I’m going to still give this a 5 because COH — which is included in this package — is a genre-redefining RTS.
A slightly disappointing follow up, but a must buy if you’re new to COH or addicted to it as much as I have been for the last couple years!!
