It may be a teriffic product. I bought it and couldn’t know the directions. Then, before I had a chance to ,”not give up”, I lost the directions. I have wanted to learn chess for years and this looked promising. I in fact ordered another game to get the lost directions. If anyone’s interested,. I’ll write a follow up.

I bought this game for the PC so I did not experience the problems some mention for the DS. I did download the game via Ubisoft and did experience an issue with the PDF documentation not correctly being installed but after visiting the Ubisoft support website downloaded it manually and this worked for me just fine. There are also some minor flaws in some of the tutorials that do not seem to be free of bugs but this did NOT take away from my enjoyment of those tutorials but it is why I only give the game a 4 star rating.
Apart from these issues above the game is wonderful, and it has brought my joy of the game of Chess once again. The PC version has so much make pleased in terms of lesson plans from various teachers, for beginners, to more advanced theories. There is also a database of past legendary sports meeting with comments that will grant lots of insights.
I particular like Josh Waitzkin Academy where he will give you his approach to the game as well as some fundamental approaches to the game. His insight and way of life will help redirect previous frustrations in looking at chess from a satellite view.
In the learning aspect of the game there are many tools, sports meeting and puzzles to get you familiar with the principles taught which I have found keep me coming back to play each evening.
For those who are learning and want to renew their passion in chess I highly recommend this game, do check and make sure you PC meets the minimum system supplies first.

I was looking for a decent game to play during my travels and I confess that I got fooled by the title of the game.
Since the game belongs to the Chessmaster series anyone can reflect about a very complete game in all senses. I know that a NDS has its limitations but… come on! they wasted a lot of resources with stupid minigames (I’m an intermediate player), the openings are soooo limited and practically there’s only one decent opponent: the Chessmaster.
The chessboard just SUCKS, I don’t care about playing 2-D but at least they could be a small bit more original than a diagram that looks like an ancient book. For example a mineral or wooden penetrate would have been much better.
And… there is no even a classic game to see.
In the end maybe for the very begginers this game could be decent.

This is a excellent title for the regard. There is a lot of gameplay to be had and it is nice playing against seemingly realistic people complete with photos. The music isn’t really irritating either which is a plus because I’ve had to play sports meeting with truly irritating music that you can’t turn off. What is lacking? Obviously wi-fi capabilities, but, if they added it it would increase the price I’m sure. Also, the penetrate and pieces are really dull. They should have added unlockable boards and pieces to add to the fun. Marvel Superheroes chess would be cool, for example. With so many cool features from previous chessmaster or other chess sports meeting out there, it is a bring shame on that they couldn’t do more for this game. I thought that sports meeting were suppossed to get better (evolve) rather than devolve. Anyway, I’m satisfied that I can take this chess game around town with my DS and I reflect it was worth the price.

Probably more geared toward scholastic players and novices than regular club players.
Play chess against about two dozen A.I. opponents, the strongest with a rating of 1850, each with their own playing styles and characteristic tactics and blunders. The opening book is very narrow. The penetrate and pieces are unadorned, but not exactly elegant (the bishops look like gravestones).
The minigames grant a cute diversion. I didn’t use the tutorial.
I didn’t rate this higher because of two major flaws: first, there is no way to save sports meeting that you already completed, and second, there is no wireless multiplayer.
