The controls are very excellent (4 options) and use the motion sensitive feature if you turn it on. Some missions are very frustrating, enough that I place the game away for a week or so.
I play on a standard TV (S-video) and the defintion is splendid, I also use the optical audio much better than the RCA Red/White.
The P-38 is absent, too terrible. The game play while fun is missing something, can’t really say what, just if you’re an Ace Combat fan – this ain’t it. I know it’s not jets but that’s not the conundrum.
If I had it to do over again, I’d probably wait for it to go on sale or wait for the PS3 Ace Combat (hopefully).

After 15 min of playing the game it all becoms kind of repeating and even dull. More over the game is not using fully PS3 hardware so I would rate grpahic rather poor…

This game was splendid yet terrible. Awsome grafics but some levels (Midway) for example are to hard. But by and large I loved it. Exact game for experienced gamers.

I swear those first reviews I read on this game had to have been written by people trying to sell the game, or its designers or something. Bottomline is, if you can find this game cheap, it can be fun. But don’t pay more than $15 for it – that’s its quality. To highlight the lack of attention the designers place into this game – there are SPELLING ERRORS in the dialogue text! If you really want a exact game, that should be an simple part to take care of, right? So that goes by the side of with all the other errors. Enemy planes will “jump” across the sky – most notably in the cave level. During many timed dogfights the game allows the enemy planes to glide out of an invisible “out of bounds” barrier that you can’t follow {it automatically flips you and sends you in the other management) so you can’t shoot them down. And 1st person??? I don’t know what the other guys are talking about; yeah, it gives you a toggle selection in both the pregame menu and in-flight menu and … it just DOESN’T WORK. Again for emphasis… THE COCKPIT VIEW DOES NOT WORK… I don’t mean it doesn’t work as in it makes it harder, but like it WON’T CHANGE VIEWS. This game is only in 3rd person. Also, it’s the only ps3 game I have that freezes. Usually it freezes after a mission, so it’s not TOO frustrating, but still, that’s a bug that should have been worked out prior to production.
SO IN CONCLUSION – THE DESIGNERS DIDN’T PUT MUCH TIME AND CARE INTO THIS GAME, THEREFORE YOU SHOULDN’T PUT MUCH MONEY OR FAITH INTO THIS GAME. I guess I should say some excellent things… the missions were creative and pretty fun. Natural landscapes were so-so, Paris was splendid looking though.

First the excellent news — the graphics are brilliant, both the planes and the ground scenery, probably the best yet on a PS3 in 1080i or 1080p.
The terrible news (for me) was that it’s not a combat flight simulator like I’m used to (Microsoft Combat Flight Sim 2 and 3, Appeasing Air War, Forgotten Battles, etc.). There is no opportunity to glide the planes except on a mission, so you can’t get proficient in flying them. Flight modeling is certainly arcade stylishness like flying a Star Wars fighter. Even the artificial intelligence planes such as wingmen and enemy do things that are aerodynamically impossible. There is no ballistics in gunnery such as bullet drop, so aiming is directly at the erratically-moving targets. Only a few of the cockpit gauges are functional, though the views are excellent.
The net result is that for gamers, it’s pretty excellent entertainment. For pilots and flight simmers it will be a huge disappointment, especially for the [...]list price.
