I bought this game as soon as I heard it was out, and was very pleased to get it for 30 bucks. Had it been a $60 dollar title it would have lost a star or two as it is honestly small and probably doesn’t have too much replay potential, but I was pleased for the price. I beat the game in a day flat, but don’t regret purchasing it at all.
The game had a really clean feel to it, sort of like playing an ancient arcade title. Combining a small golf, a small racing, and a small combat helped the game keep the zany Aquateen feel I expected. I loved the authentic voiceover, though I found myself wishing it was a small more varied during the racing levels. The original episodes were a gas, particularly the ultimate Sandwich Battle unlocked owing to gameplay.

I know, I probably loved this game a bit TOO much, but I loved it. This has garnered mixed response from gamers and was torn apart by critics (An dreadful 37 out of 100 on Metacritic.), but I cannot deny that I had a lot of fun with it. Sure it will never win accolades for “greatest game ever” or for “greatest sports game ever” or even “best licensed game ever,” but if you’re willing to give it a chance, this game proves to be rather fun (Critics are certainly incorrect if they give garbage like Looney Tunes: ACME Arsenal better reviews than this game).
WHAT THE GAME IS: A golf/beat ‘em up/racing game. When Frylock is accepted to the Jersey Pines Golf Course, Master Shake is upset that he was not, so after a tutorial in which you learn how to play the game, the group steals their neighbor Carl’s car and crash on the golf course. From then on, you play owing to 11 other levels of golfing, combat, and even a couple of racing levels with the occasional boss battle.
GRAPHICS: I must say these graphics in fact look excellent. The game has a nice cel-shaded look, and the cutscene visuals look just like the show. I even really liked how the levels were designed because this game shoots you all over the place to places like the Moon and Hell. Unlike most licensed sports meeting, the graphics in fact look and feel like the fund material which is a certain plus.
MUSIC: This area was a bit disappointing. Most of the music is too silent and really doesn’t go with the game. It’s best if you listen to your own music as you play.
SOUND: All the voice actors from the show reprise their roles in this game. So, by and large this area works well and the other sound effects are excellent too.
GAMEPLAY: As said before, this is game is about golfing, beating the crap out of a lot of enemies, and a couple racing segments. The golfing part of the gameplay for the most part feels solid and open, and the controls work well. The combat is decent, but it could use some fine tuning. You can switch back and forth between Master Shake and Frylock during combat. Master Shake can use weapons such as his golfclub, a sword, a chainsaw, a sawed-off shotgun, pubic pride (A spray used to kill spiders), and many other weapons. Frylock has the potential to shoot fireballs, he can shoot lightning bolts when you find that item, can shoot missiles when that item is found, as well as other powers. Meatwad can be used to turn into a hotdog, so that enemies will attack him instead of you for a brief cycle of time or he can be used while you’re golfing to cheat. There are all sorts of enemies to fight in this game: spiders, mechanical peacocks, mutant brownies, mutant wrenches, homicidal demon trees, roses armed with machine guns, and plenty more. Some villains included in this game are: Carl, the Mooninites, McPee Pants, the Plutonians, and more. The racing segments are honestly simple and are also fun as well. On every level there are a lot of hidden items such as unlocking cameo clips, finding extra lives, twelve demon sandwiches which when all are found will unlock a battle of the sandwiches. There’s also other things packed in this game such as four episodes (One of which has never been seen) from the show, an interview with the creators of the show, etc. Even if you don’t like the game itself, the four episodes should be enough to keep you coming back. Even better is the fact there is a multiplayer option which adds even more regard to this awesome game.
OVERALL: This is certainly a fans-only game, but it proves to be a solid golfing/combat/racing game that is also amusing as hell and packed with awesome extras well worth the price. But, although I really loved this game, I will only recommend it as a rental.
THE GOOD: Fun golfing, fun combat, fun racing, lots of weapons, excellent graphics, amusing humor, excellent voice-acting, and lots of awesome extras.
THE BAD: The game can get repetitive and the combat could have been done better.

The review by “Huge Evil” is pretty much right on. This game just isn’t very fun. The golf mechanics are unadorned but serviceable I suppose, but the controls are mushy. I had written that down to the fact that I played the game on a PS3 and I figured the backward-compatibility was the culprit, but other reviews I’ve read say the same thing. The combat is weak and repetitive, and not very hard. It’s more of a annoyance in getting to your next shot. The golf cart racing is OK, but no matter how you guide, your opponent always stays just a small ahead or behind, and races always come down to the last leg. Just save a missile till the very end in case you’re trailing, and you’ll win every time. Not very challenging.
The only reduction grace for this title is that the ATHF humor is there in spades, and fans of the show will probably get a kick out of this in spite of the weak gameplay. The game is small, and replayability is zero once you unlock all the cameos and the “broodwich” battle, so you can certainly save your cash and rent this one. You can beat this title in about 5 hours and see it all.
Recommended only as a rental to fans of the show – everyone else, stay clear.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Android Ninja Pro-Am (featuring neither ninjas nor zombies) is simply not that terrible. Nor is it very excellent. ATHF:ZNP-A is decidedly mediocre, a blended rating based on several sub-categories. Gameplay features a 9-hole golf range, and 3 levels of cart racing. The former is unadorned, yet challenging if you want to play a scratch game of golf. As you at a snail’s pace travel the course to reach the ball, you’ll encounter enemies from the cartoon series. It’s unavoidable, monotonous and irritating. The racing segments are equally frustrating, as you’ll lose whisker-close races before winning by a country mile, when your AI opponent apparently loses a lap for unknown reasons. The entire “mission” can be completed in less than 8 hours.
To make up for sorta lousy gaming, you have a bundle of video extras. Some, like a never-before-seen ATHF episode, are available from the get-go. Others are earned by collecting icons throughout the gameplay. I played this on a 1st gen PS2 and watched owing to a composite video connection to a flat screen analog tube. The video picture was ripe with jaggies, and I pretty much clarified why in the previous sentence.
All told, there’s no compelling reason to own this, just rent or borrow to delight in for what it’s worth.

Arguably the most well loved original show to hit Adult Swim, the Aqua Teen Hunger Force make their video game debut with Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Android Ninja Pro-Am from Midway for the PS2. Gameplay wise, the game takes place on a golf course where you, well, play golf. In between shots though, you fight off familiar enemies and race against the alien frat boys. None of these elements are really very fun at all, and in all truth come off as being more frustrating than anything else. The game’s controls are loose and unresponsive, which only amplifies the frustration, and the game itself isn’t really very pretty to look at, thanks to a sloppy frame rate. The constantly recycled dialogue gets real irritating after a while, and even though there’s cameos aplenty from familiar characters of the show, there isn’t really anything here that makes Android Ninja Pro-Am worth playing. The best part of the game is the fact that four episodes of the show are instantly available to watch, which is sad considering this is a video game we’re talking about. Then again, should we really have expected anything less? The game’s by and large presentation screams that it’s an ultra budget title, and for the tag price you’d be better off spending less on a season set on DVD. This may be worth a brief look for die hard Aqua Teen fans, but even they should proceed with extreme caution.
