I’ve owned this controller for a couple years now. Following I will address different aspects of the controller.
By and large Feel
The by and large size and shape of the controller is nice, as it fits well in an adult’s hands. I’ve selected up off-brand PS2 controllers before that were ridiculously tiny or incredibly uncomfortable to hold. This is not one of those. It has a nice bulk and weight to it so it isn’t too heavy or too light. Also the vibration feels just fine.
Buttons
The button layout is excellent. The shoulder buttons are different from the standard controller in that the L2 & R2 buttons are inset a small more than the L1 & R1 buttons. In person I find this to be pretty comfortable, and I often prefer it over the standard shoulder button setup. But, it can take some acclimation from those used to the Sony controller. My only complaint is the D-Pad. I often find that when I press a management on the D-Pad, it will always trigger at a slight angle rather than a straight management. So when I hit Left, it will often indicate Left-Up or Left-Down, and never just Left. This happens with other controllers as well, but I’ve never experienced it as often as I do with this controller. But most sports meeting rarely use the D-Pad so it could be worse.
Afterglow
The glow in this controller is pretty cool looking (Mine glows blue). I’ve gotten comments from many other people upon first seeing the controller glowing in my hands, and they often reflect it looks cool. But, when the room is dark, if one of the LED lights gets angled so it’s bright in your face, it’s really irritating. Also if you watch DVDs with your PS2, and you usually like to have the lights out for the movie, you will need to find a excellent hiding spot for this controller to keep the bright LED light from distracting from the screen. This gets irritating, because I have to keep the controller near me on the couch so I can pause, reverse, etc. but I have to cover it with a thick blanket or pad or something to keep the light from irritating me.
By and large
This is a excellent feeling controller that should work well for most of your gaming needs. The glow looks really cool but can become irritating when the extra bright light is unwanted. Also the D-Pad is a small iffy at times, but for most sports meeting (especially since so few sports meeting utilize the D-pad) it should get the job done. I recommend it, especially since it’s around $5-$10 cheaper than the standard Sony controller.

The only reason they say it may cause hurt is because of the bright lights in it. Your PS2 is not equipped to throw so much potential into the controllers all at once. Therefore is why it says with conjuction with those other items because they as well consume more potential than intended. Reflect of it like this. Plug two lamps into the potential outlets. Works fine, right? Now, take a multi-tap (what I call a potential strip), plug in a computer (have it running at full alacrity and doing lots of operations), a high-def plasma tv, cable box, etc etc… what do you have? Possibly a circuit breaker is tripped or if you’re still on fuses, that goes.

this controller is fn to use in the dark and the bulbs are very bright. the shoulder buttons are an improvement in my opinion because they are spread apart and you will not accidentally push both shoulder buttons at once.
