Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies is as close as console owners can come to owning a PC-class simulator. It still has the arcade sensibilities of previous entries in this well loved series, but the graphics, number of planes (all with different flight characteristics), and tale line kick this dogfighting experience into full afterburner.
Things don’t start out too well. Early in the game you’re saddled with what amounts to a flying brick, and are mandatory to glide a few dull mud-moving missions. Stick with it, though. By the end of the game, you’ll have earned enough cash to buy a hangar full of incredible aircraft, each with special weapons, capabilities, and shortcomings. The F-14, for example, has a slow roll rate but can engage multiple targets at long range. The A-10 is horrible in a dogfight, but is devastating down low. You’ll need to familiarize yourself with all the planes, as picking the right plane for the job always spells the difference between success and failure in the later missions.
The game is nearly exact in the audio department, with flourishing engine noises (taken from recordings of the planes’ real-life counterparts) and constant radio prattle during missions. Graphically, it’s a bit of a letdown, especially the anemic explosions. Up high, everything is picture exact, and the plane models are gorgeous, but close to the ground the terrain melts into a pixilated mess. This is offset somewhat by the inclusion of dense urban areas and twisting canyons that are thrilling to glide owing to. All things considered, Shattered Skies is the best mix of simulation and arcade action ever burned onto a disc. –T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Photorealistic terrain (at least when viewed from high altitude)
- Nonstop action backed by an engaging tale
- Intense dogfights, sometimes invoAmazon.com Review

This game offers intense aerial action in a futuristic setting. After an asteroid strikes Earth, surviving nations battle to keep up their potential. You are a pilot with ISAF (Independent States Linked Force) who lost your parents to the war. With the ISAF pinned back, it is up to you to turn the tide of battle. For our ace pilot, though, the conflict is more personal than qualified, as you seek vengeance for the death of your family, especially from the pilot who led the sortie that killed your parents.Buy Cheap Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies

The reason this game is terrible is because it has cuss words. And your jetfighter is REALY hard to control you just crash alot no matter which plane you have. Here are the pros and
cons.
pros-cool jet fighters
different weapons for different fighters
cons-Your wing mates barely give you any support
they just glide around and tell you what to do,maybe
shoot a missle once in a while.
2.There isn’t any ground support to help you.
3.REALY sucky armor, two missiles and your
dead.
4.Your radar locks on for you.I don’t really care for
radar.
5.Last but not least,THIS GAME HAS CUSS WORDS!!!
That’s why this game is garbage!

Ace combat is a really excellent console game but really less of a simulation for a PC….. The aircraft are acurately and lovingly
depicted..better than PC simulations….and the flying enviroments..are vastly superior to anything seen on any PC program.
In small you can depend on the accuracy of the designs of the jets as a Fox News broadcast……knowing they are not gonna be fake like a Dan Rather memo in a Presidential election. Or distorted like a CNN report.

I’ve had this game for six days now and I’ve successfully completed 17 of 18 missions on the normal skill level. I’ve had a wonderful time up until the 18th mission. Graphics(scenery and planes) are breathtaking and the game’s a exact blend of brain usage and eye-hand coordination. But, the last mission and thus the game cannot be won! In the last mission, after destroying the entire golden-haired squadron fleet, I had to ruin the Megalith to end the game. But in order the ruin the Megalith but, I have to descend to 50 feet and glide inside 4 long, small, and narrow tunnels to win the game. Impossible to do!…There’s no way you can possibly glide straight enough to avoid the ground or tunnel parapet and explode. If you slow down, the plane stalls forcing me to hit the ground. I even tried to autopilot so I can go straight, but, the tunnels then start to ascend and descend(forcing me to the hit the parapet or ground). On top of that, given the unreal time constraints, there’s no possible way anyone can successfully end(with Standard Dual Shock Controllers)!
