With Verizon this unit could not be used. I waisted my cash. My tech guy said it was an grown-up generation unit, don’t be fooled unless you know. Caution!!

I bought this modem for a technology inept family member and have been really pleased. In a year, have not received any midnight phone calls. I have used at home for several years and would buy another if the need arose.

I’ve had 2 2-wire home portals since I got my AT&T DSL and I gave 1 away to a friend when I got a new PC. Both home portals are fantastic and I can’t presume anything better. I won’t get cable internet because it’s not compatible with the 2-wire home portals. I’m on my 3rd computer and the last is a very powerful desktop. Just connected to the network and added my new PC’s code into it and voila, it works. I am in a rest home recuperating and all the people here can see my network, but can’t connect to it because of the encryption. Like that in today’s world. Takes any alacrity and can add any amount of PC’s I want. Can’t live without it.

This modem is usually delivered by ISPs to their customers. The ISPs supply the documentation to get the modem up and running.
This modem is typically for sale on Amazon without documentation or installation software. It turns out you don’t need any of it. There are a number of references on the internet for getting the modem running.
My three year ancient DSL modem delivered from my ISP starting crashing daily, and sometimes multiple times in an hour. When running, it’s download alacrity was 1.5Mbs. This new 2Wire modem runs at 2.5Mbps and is rock solid.
One feature I really like is that you can adjust the wireless potential productivity. At most potential, we can connect all the way across our house without using a repeater as we had to with the ancient modem.
